pass protection actually has been quite good, given that in two of three games we have fallen behind by three TDs and had to pass. Run blocking is a joke, though.
Rotating backs isn't helping because neither can get into a rythem...
And in Kelly's offense the only way ..ONLY WAY a running back can be effective is if the QB runs more than once it twice a game.
What's bad is Kelly is now terrified of getting Kizer hurt and doesn't want him running much...but that's the only way Kelly's offense can be effective running the ball with the backs is the QB has to be a very real threat to take off.
This whole thing is getting messier by the minute.
The biggest lapse on offense last night was waiting 2.5 quarters to revisit the deep ball. State was selling out every play and Kelly totally forget we have some deep passes in the play book. Even if incomplete ..you have to remind the defense ...hey hey...be honest or we'll burn you.
But we got to see repeated attempts over and over of a zone read against 8 in the box with state ignoring Kizer because he doesn't run very much.....
Or passes that tike long times to develop while state was blitzing every play.
Then the BK light bulb went off and he called a two step drop ...air it out pass play.
The comeback was on at that point.
