It seems that early in the recruiting from year to year that we are on the lists of 4-5 star game changers ,only to be disappointed come February NSD . Now In 2017 recruitment , DE Robert Beal has decommitted and DT Jerron Cage has committed to Ohio State .In 2016 we signed only 2 defensive linemen ,4- star DEs ,Okwara and Kareem. .

In 2017 , are there any game changers on the D- line that ND has a real chance to sign ? Josh Kaindoh ,probably the top defensive lineman in the 2017 class has Ohio State , Maryland , ND ,Alabama , Penn State on his list , but will we lose out again?

Anybody out there know of 4-5 star d- linemen that we really have a chance to sign .

Marvin Wilson has Texas, LSU,Baylor ,Texas A&M,even Michigan on his list . If ND is on it ,maybe in the top 10

He recently visited FSU on an unofficial visit so you never know. Not really sure "the list" is all that important at this stage. The way I look at it is why not invite him as it may interest others like him. Look at Clemson........they landed two 5 star DT's last year and also came really close to landing the DT that was ranked #1 in the country in addition to that! Unfortunately for Clemson and fortunately for their opponents he went to Michigan. Point is.......highly ranked players like being around other highly ranked players sometimes.

Like Yogi said, "Baseball (insert football recruiting) is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical." :D

for an assortment of reasons ND has not been and will not be successful recruiting the kind of DL player that lines up and just physically dominates the player(s) opposite him.

Judging by the emphasis on recruiting offensive players, it seems the current regime has accepted this as reality and looks to win with overwhelming offense. A limited succcess plan.

^ only Tuitt was physically dominant and for a 1 year duration

and that is a list of 5 players over a decade! A DECADE! Are you so delusional or just your usual brain fart?

no one else on your list qualifies as the dominant type player.

Evidence: watch the games!

Speaking of brain farts, please name more physically dominant DL in the NFL? There are only a few every 10 years in the NFL. ND has had a couple, we are lucky.

The problem for Kelly is his guys are so good they leave too early for the league. This is a completely different problem than is described in the post.

Evidence: get a clue.

Re: "The problem for Kelly is his guys are so good they leave too early for the league."

Oh yeah.........that's the problem all right..........the players are just "tooo goood". Why...........they must be the best players in the whole world. They're just holding back for the league. In that case Kelly should stop wasting his time going after the 4 and 5 stars that leave early for the league. He should concentrate on the 2 and 3 stars just so they would stay around longer.............you know like those so-so coaches Meyer, Saban, Fisher and Swinney do.

Bwahahahahahahahahahah!

Wikipepia: Troll

Trolling is a game about identity deception, albeit one that is played without the consent of most of the players.

The 2013 study found that trolls often have a high expectation of what it means to be successful, which is higher than they are able to attain, and this results in them resenting others who think they are successful but who fall below their standards.

Here's where I come in:
and upon judging a poster a troll, make the offending poster leave the group.

Psychological characteristics
Two studies published in 2013 and 2014 have found that people who are identified as trolls tend to have dark personality traits and show signs of sadism, antisocial behavior, psychopathy, the noxious personality characteristics known as the "dark triad of personality" should be investigated in the analysis of trolling, trolling appears "to be an Internet manifestation of everyday sadism."

Funny how these criminole trolls are the exact definition of internet trolls.

So says the internet worm posting under multiple names and talking with himself!

Re...Tim terriffic and johnOgaunt

Argusman is an internet worm hiding behind the anonymity of the net that posts under many different names and actually talks with himself (aka argusman, holy smoke, epiticus, big fella fan, tim terrific, johnOgaunt and a host of others) due to his lack of self esteem. This childish charade is foisted upon the message board by an adult man of retirement age living in South Florida in the Naples area that has an estranged daughter who attended FSU. He is a drop out of Maryville Teachers College (aka NW Missouri State) and pretends to be affiliated with Notre Dame but never attended the school. In wimpish fashion he hopes to curry favor from Notre Dame alumni through pretense and accolades. He is the pariah of Rivals, hated by all, estranged by family and has no credibility. His trademarks are poor grammar, name calling, vulgarity, misquoting and completely changing the quotes of other posters.

Having 1 or 2 quality DT like tillery and Day is a good start. However, you need 4-5 of them on a team. Plus having a nasty demeanor helps as well at this position.

Will never get better...

KELLY is strictly O-minded.......Most Great college & Pro Coaches have long sinced
known/learned that DEFENSE WINS N C's whereas Kelly's approach will always -
unfortunately be 'O' and a "MAYBE' season with more oft than not 7/9 win seasons.
Oooh, he can get lucky occasionally and win more.....but his m.o. is a known factor and his
coaching years are only as good as how long Jack S. hangs onto him. As they are loving
brothers that'll be awhile and any good D-prospect readily sees that ND in not the right
place for him. Only by chance, comes along a good one whose main objective
is Student first - athlete second. And we all have seen that most good ones go elsewhere.
Kelly's recruiting stimulus for D linemen is at best 'low key' O=Excitement - D=Both

Thanks for checking in Coach Philbin. Put down the bong or pass it on to the next guy.

PS Of those 5 Louis Nix committed to Notre Dame before kelly was hired. Kapron Lewis Moore joined ND in 2008....
