Notre Dame football: CJ Carr looking at other schools?

It’s not a surprise at all.

It’s a business before anything else. He has every right to weigh his options and make the business decision that is best for him.

The QB room at ND is getting crowded. Very unlikely he starts as a freshman. If Kenny performs well, he could get the starting spot on 2024 as a sophomore.

No way CJ and Kenny are on the same team for more than a season. Someone will jump ship.

It won't be that crowded. Hartman will be gone. Powlus is irrelevant.

Itll be

Buchner
Minchey
Angeli
Carr

4 guys competing. And who knows, 1 may transfer by then as well

ND has zero players committed for next cycle. Zero. They do have a few that are considering ND as a destination. Carr is one of those considering the Irish. He may be considering others schools too. Only when a recruit signs a LOI , are they committed. Verbal commitments are useless and meaningless

Buchner is not going to sit around through 2023 in hopes that he may regain the job in 2024.

And really, anyone who signs NSD has basically agreed to be on the team for the summer and fall semesters, nothing more.

Did you read the article? Carr is there to play a 7 on 7 tournament, not on a recruiting visit!
Many colleges host these tournaments, he was at one earlier that was at UW…does that mean he’s going there?

Yes he will. Nd isn't starting minchey as a sophomore over a 4th year Buchner with two years left.

Seriously the pining for "the next guy" is laughable.

He will. He'll play a lot this year.
I sure hope he doesn't.

Two ways he plays a lot.
We score 50 points by half and he plays a lot of fourth quarter offense...
which WON'T happen...
or...
Hartman gets injured...

In which case we're in for a nightmare season.

The only reason he is at Texas A&M is because his 7on7 team is there. He is not actively looking at that school.

I agree. If he doesn’t win the job after spring I think he’s gone. And I wouldn’t blame him.

You can't convince some of the haters no matter how much proof is in front of them that he is with his 7 on 7 team travelling to various colleges participating in those 7 on 7 s. He has been an active recruiter for ND like Drayk was for the last class.

I also read that he has been notifying the ND coaches before these trips to ensure no misunderstandings of his intent and his continuing firm commitment to ND. Thus far, Carr has been everything you want in a recruit. He can certainly change his mind between now and early signing day, but right now, he still appears 100% locked in to ND.

This is totally legit...I'm hearing that he looks at Saline Middle School every day and has even looked at Harvest Elementary...

Where's there's smoke, there's water...and when the water is under the smoke...well. we all know what that means...

To you maybe.
To a lot of people. He's expected to play a lot this year and then he could be the guy for 2 years.

And they won't be naming a starter after spring most likely. He wouldn't have graduated. His sister will be a freshman this year. And he wouldn't win a job somewhere else in 3 months.

So next january hed be in the same spot some where else as he would be at Notre Dame

Most expect him to stay. It would be a surprise if he left

Buchner is stupid if he leaves. He will be the clear starter in 2024. Unless Minchey is the best QB in a decade, which is possible, it should be an easy win for TB. Love Carr and hope he gets happy again but don’t sleep in Minchey. He’s a stud.

Tyler Buchner isn't leaving. Even with Sam Hartman starting...which he will IMO...he's one snap away from playing in 2023, and he's the starter in 2024.
