Notre Dame has been pursuing Simote Katoanga for quite some time as a defensive end target in the 2026 class. But the former teammate of Notre Dame freshman LB Madden Faraimo is switching high schools to Santa Margarita Catholic and committed today to USC.
Katoanga was a high priority for Chad Bowden, so I'm not surprised that the Trojans pushed for him and landed a commitment already. That's why I had him listed as a second guess rather than the top defensive in my most likely to commit list. I'll come up with another defensive end for the list when I write the story.
