WrongUnfortunate it doesn't work that way. Wish it did. If Big 10, ACC, and SEC all get a spot the question is can we hold off either TCU or Baylor if they win out. Think it will be tough for us to do so if they beat OK, OK St, TCU/Baylor...down the stretch.
I agree. There is no way Baylor does not move ahead if they win out. I think the committee had some questions about their schedule but if they prove themselves, they are in.Unfortunate it doesn't work that way. Wish it did. Your bumming ND at 5. HaHaWhat a dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How? Its his opinion.
If LSU, OSU, Clemson, and one of the Big12 teams all win out, I don't see how ND gets in. Lets say TCU wins out -- that would include OU, OSU, Baylor. Three ranked teams to ND's one (Stanford). Plus ND will have lost a game.
I'm surprised, and happy, that ND is in. But they still need a lot of help.
You are aright. Still a longshot. Should have taken care of business down in Death Valley.Again. The problem is all the teams in front of us -their toughest games are against teams breathing down our neck. So if OSU loses to MSU, we dont move up, MSU jumps us. Probably the same with Clemson v. FSU. So, we can get to 4 when one of the SEC teams is eliminated from the top 4, but if we are to hold off a TCU or Baylor we HAVE to get to 3. Cant be at 4, in that first out position.
And our best bet for that is Oklahoma. They have the best D in the BIG12 and might be able to beat both of those guys. Then its a coin flip on wether they jump us.
Thats how i see it. Great to be 5, but it doesnt change the math.
naysayer naysayer naysayer nah nah nah nah ND#5 nah nah nah nah nahYou are aright. Still a longshot. Should have taken care of business down in Death Valley.
It has nothing to do with it. You just dismissed the poster's opinion out of hand like he/she was worthless. What is wrong with you?Y

Fair point. But we have loss. So quality wins cant be a tie. Or really even close to tie.If Baylor or TCU win out they will finish on a strong note but they won't be able to completely erase their weak out of conference opponents with Baylor having played Lamar and TCU having played Stephen F. Austin. For those saying the committee will jump an undefeated TCU or Baylor over ND because either will have finished strong against respected opponents, keep in mind as long as Clemson, Temple, Navy, and USC finish strong the committee will continue to have to respect what we've accomplished and as long as we finish the season by beating Stanford I think they will have a very hard time allowing either Baylor or TCU to jump us. The fact we are ranked number 5 right now is very significant.
ND has established it self as #5...LSU and Bama one of them will drop out of the top 4 .ND wins out there in the final 4....simple as that,,,,no bs..no one going to jump ahead of the irish...Unless it takes 4 overtimes to beat Wake Forest and BC.....

All incentive is right there in front of them. There is no reason or excuse for this team not to play focused and well. This team absolutely has the talent to get to and win a national championship. The time for half measures and excuses is gone. Starting this week at Pitt the Irish have to play hitting on all cylinders. I hope the players realize the opportunity that is in front of them. I don't like making predictions mainly because I don't like to jinx anything. However, my gut tells me the players have to know they have a chance at a title. I think we will see a very focused and determined Irish team beginning with Pitt.

When was the last time there were 2 or more undefeated regular season teams?Poor response. If Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, and Baylor or TCU win out, then they will all be undefeated so that would certainly go a long way to finishing ahead of Notre Dame. I agree that this could be a big "IF" but calling the original point wrong does nothing for a discussion.

We are in control of our own destiny. Win out and most likely someone else will slip.
Flamers get ignored. Bye bye. Most likely 9-3. Way beyond expectations for a Kelly coached team.

12-1Except ND was 12-0 in 2012. Why do you keep coming back with this weak sauce?
