Would expect no less from you. Surprised you didn't say 13 - just give us an extra one for showing up. Go coach 8 & 4.

My thoughts are at worst 10-2, but probably 11-1 and just missing the playoffs.

8 - 4

this defense will stop no one

this defense will not get off the field on 3rd down

offensive scoring way down without fuller to stretch the opponents defense

I am going with 9-3, on the assumption the defense simply won't be strong enough. I think the Irish are going to lose 2/3 out of Michigan St., Stanford and USC. In addition, they will be upset by either Miami, V.Tech or Texas. That's my call. Hope I am wrong.

Would expect no less from you either. Wasn't that your prediction last year as well?

10-2 this year by my call.

NO! Didn't have one. But I trust Coach 8 & 4 to give his maximum effort. But, if Kizer has the year I think he is capable of, and 8 & 4 can stay away from him, they can win 10 to 12 games and maybe....

11-1 which will be a very good accomplishment given how thin we are at safety. Time we catch a break on the injury front.

I will go with Notre Dame getting 12 wins with 0 defeats for the regular season. I will bump this thread a few times so we all can see who was correct and who wasn't at seasons end. It is all in fun ! I also predict that Howard Hall will predict 8 and 4 for the Irish ! And I also predict that Perse will not make a win/loss prediction because he has no BALLS !
Shockinggggggggggg prediction from you.

If ND can split the Stanford and MSU games at least 1-1 than they could go 10+ wins. Otherwise I think they regress to a 9 win type year

My heart says 10-2 but my gut says 9-3. I don't trust our d right now to go any higher. I'll lean conservative and say 9-3, and hope they prove me very wrong.
+ Napy, agree with your heart. GOOO IRISH!
Added comments Ohio State has an easy schedule except OKLA, and Mich, win one and I'll say 11-1
Hope Auburn destroys Clemson first game and So. Cal. upsets 'Bama

I'm seeing a couple of predictions that we lose to NC state, and while that won't be an easy game, it's one ND absolutely should win.

NC State is a middle of the road ACC team, who will probably end up somewhere around 7-5 or ( let's say 8-4 high end and 6-6 low end.)
If the Irish can't beat them, and if NC State is being viewed as one of the tougher opponents on
our schedule, how do you seriously think Notre Dame can compete in the SEC.....
or even the Big 10, Pac12, etc., conferences where NC State is middle of the pack at best.

Again, not an easy game, but you can't have it both ways, meaning people who claim ND can play with anybody year in and year out, can't rationalize ND losing to a team that we should have beaten almost every year.

Texas- Double digit win that's closer than the score.
Nevada- ND will win in dominating fashion.
MSU- Statement double digit win.
Duke- Easy win where the score is closer than the game was played.
Syracuse- Easy Win
NC State- I've had a bad feeling about this game all off season and feel they lose.
Stanford- Nice bounce back win for ND and get back in the hunt for the playoffs.
Miami- Close tough win for ND
Navy- Easy win for ND
Army- Easiest win of the year for ND
VT- Close tough win at home
USC- I think this is a play in game for ND for the playoffs and they come up short.

So overall I say 10-2. A couple good wins and a couple tough losses. Either way I really hope they get to 10 wins and a bowl win in one of the top bowls.

Go Irish!!!

Three issues I agree w re Bodi's post

12-0 contingent on strong run defense

Purse 29 K is a eunuch

Howard hall a gelding

wack the dick off those two , they are not worthy to sport male genitalia .

9-3. Can see 8-4 or 10-2 so I will split the difference. Defense and Red Zone offense will cause problems, as usual. If ND can rectify those problem areas, especially The Red Zone, who knows?

I do this every year and guess mathematically (60% chance of winning this game and 90% chance of winning that game etc.) and I always seem to come up with 9-3 > and that was the exact result this year as well. Because recruiting has generally trended up, I think there is more upside than downside to the results. Also, there are no brutal games this year.

The FPI stat has ND below 50% probability against Texas (even though ND is giving points on an away field) and USC. Aggregating those probabilities, the FPI comes to 8.6 wins.

I see the toughest 3 games based upon normal recent performance from our opponents as Mi ST, Stan, and USC. All certainly have some gaps to fill - more than normal - so, while tough, I think they are a bit easier than last year (well maybe USC should be trending up from last year).
So, 9-3 mathematically, but 10-2 really feels right unless I am drinking what bodi has been drinking.

Bodester

ND will win 14 games this year

They will go to the White House and meet President Trump

Wow.
One question please for everyone involved in this post.
If ND goes 9-3, and say loses to Mich. St, Stanford, and USC, who have they defeated of any note?
Please tell me, as I am truly curious.
Follow up question is, who thinks that is a good/very good year?
Please be honest.

Houston, I would be satisfied with 9-3 some years, but to me, that would be a good but disappointing record this year all things considered. Excessive injuries to key people can of course change that perception.

In 2014 ND lost to Northwestern, a team that ended up 5-7. That's the Kelly signature. His team's under perform against crud competition.

As hard as it is for me to find two losses on this schedule, I just think we are too young and inexperienced in too many areas to be a playoff team.

We go 10-2 with so much returning next year to make us a pre-season top 5 team.

9-3. I know it's the spring game, but the top-end talent level seemed down. I like Zaire, but the fact that he couldn't clearly grab the QB1 spot is troubling. And then there's the defense. It's going to be tough watching another season of delayed safety blitzes from 15 yards deep or the D-line in pass coverage.

The schedule does seem manageable. And after two straight years of bad luck, you'd think the worm turns. So you can see a path to this team catching lighting in a bottle, but 9-3 is the safer bet.

First, you really can't answer the first part until the season is over. Texas could be a 10 win team. Who knows about Miami and Va Tech. On the flip side the 3 teams above could be 7 win teams. So many times teams do better or worse than their pre-season ranking.

As to 9-3, yea I'd be happy. Considering that ND is one of the few Div1 teams that still competes with Student-Athletes I think that 9-10 wins a year is good.

Injuries will happen they happen to every team every year but like I said before at a lot of other schools it truly is "next man in" That next guy in has been spending 40 hrs per week on football related activities so the drop off in talent is minimal. At ND they have to accept a lot of project players because the others can't get admitted. Then those project players spend 40 hrs per week on scholastic pursuits.

I've learned to enjoy the ND football for what it is and not have unrealistic expectations.
