Next Week Determines Our Season - No Oswald in sight

Wimbush was only three out of five for passing yesterday for seventeen yards. Kizer was fifteen out of twenty-two for two hundred and seven yards. (two touchdowns)

Wimbush completed passes to Hunter (9 yards), St. Brown (8yards), and to C.J Sanders for no gain. The two incomplete passes were to Hunter and Fuller.

Here's link for the individual stats for the four games played.

Looking over the first quarter plays looks like Carlisle had three catches, and Fuller and Jones had one catch each. Looked through the second quarter and Brown, Carlisle, Fuller and Jones all had receptions. I counted Fuller with three, Brown and Carlisle with two and Jones with one.

Too lazy to go back and recount, but looks like a pretty good job of spreading the passes around.

Not cool, you're messing up his argument with facts. That's practically cheating.

having a concern about ball distribution is just that- concern; it is not a criticism.

as to another posters comments about facts: I looked over the play by play to check the distribution before the game was safely put away. You chose not to n thats fine. I also said this was a 4 game span I was looking at. But I guess reading comprehension and football acumen was not his/her strength.

Fuller has been outstanding; Kizer has not been a surprise to me.

What is a surprise is that all spring we hear about the WR's and the TE's being so outstanding;
SO, where the hell are they? Why no balance? Teams will figure out Fuller and other weapons will be needed.

For the season

Fuller has 22 catches
Brown - 16
Carlisle - 10

Yesterday
Fuller - 4
Jones - 3
Carlisle - 5

To the question of where the hell are they -- their right here doing their job.

ND is avg 40 pts per game - well done team

I was at the game yesterday and if Kizer had been keying on Fuller they may have had at least 2 additional long TDs in the first half. 1) there was one time in the first quarter where Kizer did not leave the primary receiver to hit a wide open Fuller on a post route, and 2) a second time in the second quarter where Fuller ran a fly route - the CB thought he had help over the top but didn't and Kizer didn't see him. If anything - I don't think they throw to Fuller enough. If u got a horse - you ride him. Ask Les Miles.

Seriously? I linked the stats and play by play from Gametracker. I linked stats from all four games from UND.Com. I read the play by play from all four quarters of the game and posted the information I found and you tell me that I have no reading comprehension and football acumen??? ~shakes head~

There's a blood moon lunar eclipse visible in Vincennes, Indiana, right now, has been really cool to watch, you enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening/night.

Actually Perse, I looked at the play by play too before I posted. As did Alice, who repeated many of the facts earlier in the thread..

This is just one of those times where for whatever reason you've really dug in about something indefensible. Looking at the play by play (ncluding incomplete passes to other targets), the ball was well distributed especially in the first half where the game was still tight. The only time Fuller seemed to be especially targeted was when we were hurry up going into the half. And in those times, you hit the open receiver. Even then, the ball was pretty well spread around.

And watching the came, it was really obvious that early in the game there was an effort to get Carlisle more involved - it was especially notable with the way Tom Hammond was constantly pronouncing Carlisle's name in an annoyingly exaggerated (but perhaps correct) way. Watching the Georgia Tech game, it was obvious that there was an effort to get Chris Brown more involved. Its almost like Kelly has been putting together manageable game plans for his new quarterback.

Despite your comments about football acumen, its obvious that this offense seeks to stretch the field first. And with Fuller consistently running excellent routes and beating his coverage, that means Fuller is going to get some opportunities to catch the ball. He's earned it.

You've got over 23K posts and an opinion on everything. You're not gonna be right all the time. Relax.

If you want to whine about something, whine about the defense. There's plenty to worry about.

This week, I think we'll see the tight ends targeted more. Clemson was pretty thin at linebacker going into the season, and against Louisville they blitzed a decent number of times. Fuller deep and tight ends will keep them honest.

Only one play I seen that was evident that Kizer didn't go through his progressions like he should. I think it was Chris Browns defender that fell down....he was just standing out there all by his lonesome. It's hard to gripe about a play or two here and there when he's playing pretty solid so far......alot easier for me to see these plays from the couch when I don't have 250 lb LB's and 300 lb DL running after me and my bowl of popcorn.

I think the ball is getting spread around pretty well. The main spreading of the ball I'm interested in is Procise, Adams, and Williams and how they are mixed into the game. The key to our offensive performance is our running attack.....which starts with the OL. Just hope Kelly finds ways to get Williams the ball some.......something about what I saw against UMass makes me believe this kid could step up to an unreal caliber and have a breakout game that no one expects. Just don't think Kelly sees it the same way right now. I'll just go back to coaching from my LazyBoy.

Trying to explain football to Purse is like trying to explain to George "the animal" Steele that chewing on turnbuckles is not good for his teeth. He will do it anyway.

not trying to be right or wrong; I am expressing a concern that a young QB is possibly zeroing in on his prime target and developing a tendency DC's will look at; but DK did target TE's and Brown more than I recognized at first look; 5 passes 4 completions and a TD to Brown. Fuller was the target 6 times; DK 8-13 for everyone excluding AC. Probably not quit at the level to be a 'tendency'; but 2-3 Fuller targeted passes from that.
(1st half stats only)
+
(I think the pass plays to AC have to be considered as running plays; they are usually forward passes at or behind the LOS; the gains are in the YAC stat; yac stats for this game are not on line yet but looking at the prior games)*

*note added after replay viewing: AC had 2 dwnfield catches in 1st half

You sound an awful lot like "hoosierstorm?"....

I wonder where he's hiding....

In mythology, Pazuzu was the demon king of storms. I don't think its a coincidence that he sounds like Hoosierstorm.
