ND vs Ohio State Game Thread

Freeman doesn’t know how to game day coach, he struggled big time at DC making adjustments and same as HC
You are a moron. Freeman can't coach, Golden made mistakes, Rees stinks, anybody else? Uou literally don't know squat about football.

On the positive:
There was no deer in the headlight looks
Defense can be really good this year
TB looked good
Team overall handled being in the "Shoe" very well

Didn't except to win tonight, just because of the talent difference. Really expected to be curb stomped but team hung tough.
Move forward and see what happens as the season unfolds.
On the negative we are not really good at any aspect of the game.

god damn this fan base is full of idiot simpletons

what do you need to throw a successful ball down field?
1. Offensive Line that can protect a vertical passing play
2. WRs that can get down field/get separation
3. A QB that can throw the ball accurately down field
4. A running game that forces the opposing D to cheat in order to stop it (which opens up the vertical passing game).

It's more than just " hur dur get a qb who can throw the ball down field"
Ha, the idiots are the ones who keeps making excuses and who thinks it's always going to get better. Different coach, same old story against a good team.

Please, if Kelly was coaching, this game would have been over at Half Time. OSU would have hung 50 and ND would have slept through the game.
Agreed. One bad call on D, Rees needs to figure it out. Watching the Georgia game, they had open receivers all over the place. I get talent level isn’t the same, but they were open in play calls not necessarily in skill.

Really that comes down to 2 things. An offensive PI when we are in OSU territory and a sliding catch on 3rd and 6 for the bucks. Change those 2 plays and who knows.

This game does nothing to ND. I’m not sure we drop more than 1 or 2 spots

This board is truly made up of a bunch of no know nothing whinners. We lost on the road to a much more talented team, a team that just might win it all this year. And yet we got posters calling out coaches, players, refs ... just ridiculous. Oh and the credentials of these whinners is zero, clueless

Again it’s on Rees. How do you beat blitz? Screen game. I don’t think a single screen was called.

Zeke struggled. We could use Patterson at center tonight instead of guard. Wish we didnt lose Davis as well. So need more weapons. Ol didnt hold up as well as hoped

What should he do differently? Our guys up front were just getting beat in the second half.
Make adjustments

offense had no plan to put pressure on osu with a dual threat qb… eta should have been open all over … roll Buchner out

On D, don’t make a bonehead moronic play call,

That and the 4th. They kinda started to win the battle at the line. I think they were just gassed by the 4th. They lost the TOP battle big after the first 20 or 25 min of the game
Yeah they wore us down. Their OL is huge. Our offense ran 20 plays the entire 2nd half. They needed a break

Not sure what to feel right now. There's a lot of positives to take from this game but at the same time it just feels like the same old song of not enough elite talent. Stroud and the WRs were making NFL type completions that have limited margin of error. However, how is that other than Mayer no other guy had more than one catch? ND can't complete a 5 yard out or 5 yard crossing pattern? I don't think Rees called a terrible game, but man where is the creativity? Bootleg, screens, play action, take a shot downfield to Lenzy or Styles. To be fair there were some good calls: The fake pitch toss and down the seam to Bauman. That was great. Need more of that. But sending Estime on a wheel or tossing to him to run in space is moronic. Rees had all year to prepare for this game. Minus the double safety blitz I thought Golden called a great game. Defense just wore down as time went on.

This…. 20 plays is pathetic … dline didn’t make plays though all night other than first drive

We need some WR’s and Mayer looked slow. He needs to drop 15 lbs and the WR’s need to make some plays. The OL needs a few more weeks. Buchner hit several in the hands and they dropped. He had a pretty decent day. This team will grow and we got some frosh that will come on. Last year at FSU I had huge concerns. I’m excited to watch what Marcus and this team does.

Lou was .466 year one. Early look, we might make a run here.

I'm watching Oregon State right now. 2 of their TDs were plays of the QB rolling right and then throwing deep and to the backside for a score. Beautiful plays.

Mayer is an old school TE Rees wants to be eifert

great seeing Tobias or one of our frosh stud wrs … oh wait

not one pass to Thomas, like 3 to styles

Yeah nothing to Styles or Thomas. Where was Tobias. The OL I believe had an affect on the pass game. Buchner could never get comfortable. Tough first game opponent. We needed a game before

I was impressed with both defenses. I was really interested in watching the revamped OSU defense as last year they would have lost this game. OSU seemed to be a lot more physical this year - a lot. ND has nothing to hang their heads about. Most physical OSU team I've seen in 3 or 4 years. ND still has a shot at the playoffs

Disappointed in the play of the OL. Expected better pass protection for sure, and hoped for better run blocking.

I can’t remember a game where our field position to start drives was as bad as tonight’s. Tyree should make fair catches on kickoffs if Our ST can’t do a better job of blocking.

Field position clearly impacted play calling, along with the game plan to try to dominate time of possession; which Is hard to do when your OL is getting beat on a regular basis. Still not sold on Zeke at center and Lugg at RG, but I’m a broken record on this.

Surprised to see our two freshmen corners get as much play as they did. Our starter Lewis did not impress, but thought Bracy was tremendously improved.

Credit Ohio St. They won the battle in the trenches, and their QB made some incredible throws on the run and their receivers made some great catches, always at what seemed like critical downs.

No blow out and no deer in the headlights in A huge game…a very nice change.

Yep oline looked identical to last year … two coaches, same results =
issue probably is players…. I have to believe Lugg and zeke are biggest issue, they kept showing up in a negative way to me
