Not much of a lineup for the first set of games today, so I'm checking in on Navy vs Colgate. Now Colgate will probably get killed but they are playing a defense that is a personal favorite of mine when defending the option. They are in a balanced front with 8 in the box and playing cover 0. The free safety is considered the hit man. He flows with the motion and cleans up on the pitch. It is a very simple defense that should excel at stuffing the inside run while also stringing out the run to the sidelines.

Sometimes the most effective defense is the simplest one.

They have ways of blocking pretty much any front and coverage. It really comes down to executing and lining properly against all of their formations.

You have 4 wr's immediately in the secondary and your going to cover them with 3 guys ?

This isn't the Texas Wishbone circa 1975.

You have to give the QB multiple reads and make him guess wrong------and then make him pay when he does.
