Miami this weekend

anyone know much about them?

Not much game talk. Concerns?

My biggest concern is the health of the team. Josh Adams has a tender ankle that caused ND to take him out. Tony Jones has a sprained ankle that caused him to miss last week. Dexter Williams is banged up. Nick Coleman is battling a shoulder. Daelin Hayes has a shoulder it appears as well. Which is a bit alarming because he has a history of shoulder problems.

Also, this is likely the best QB ND will face until Sam Darnold.

My hope is that ND can get up 21 or so points heading into the 4th quarter and get everyone out of the game, much like last week. Builds experience for depth purposes and limits the wear on a team that isn't deep.

Gus Ragland is a really good MAC QB for them. He sat out the first six games of 2016 while recovering from an ACL tear in spring ball. The team was 0-6 in those games. When he came back they won six games in a row to qualify for a bowl game.

In fact his father sat down with coach Martin mid-season to decide if he should come back early or sit out until 2017. That decision probably saved CM his job.

Uggg. None of that sounds good. Let's get a win. Maybe winbush and McIntosh go nuts.

Defense will be ok I think.

I will take a 35-21.

Solid special teams (kicking and punting), no turnovers, and pound the rock. It may take a while but we'll be seeing that a lot this year.

Hopefully -- the lead will be much bigger at halftime -- get the regulars out and let the young guys finish it.

I would like to see Book get the 2nd half start for game experience. He is one play away at all times.

Punt returns are unbelievably bad. Something like in the 120s nationally. BK said that the Return team gunners are not giving Finke any time to advance.

Well if I have to have something going wrong this season, I will take punt return.

I like the book idea but BW needs reps. Maybe all of Q4.

Anyone putting predictions down?

I'm going 42 - 20. Playing the averages.

56-13 Irish.

Irish defense holds a record fifth opponent in a row under 20 points.

We run wild again and Wimbush has a decent day passing. EQ and Stepherson each have long TD catches.

South Bender, do you mean the Irish Defense holds a record 5th opponent in a row under 20 points in the BK era? The 2012 team held 8 opponents to under 20 in a row. Outside the BK era, the 1973 team didn't allow a team more than 20 points over 10 straight games.

Notre Dame needs to make a statement every game to impress the playoff committee. This Miami of Ohio game is important--we need to blow them out.
I agree. After last season, every game this year seems disproportionately important to me. We have to win the games we are expected to win, and we need to absolutely crush this Miami of Ohio team, which is a tall order. I'll be happy with a good solid win, but that won't impress the committee, and impressing the committee is critically important if we shock the college football world and win out.

A good, solid win will be much better that the "struggle" a few years ago against a Boston College team ND was favored to win by 2-3 TD's or more -- yet struggled to eke out a 3 point win. Miami is deceptively a good team.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I heard a stat on the radio that holding MSU to under 20 points was the first time in 60+ years the Irish held their first four opponents to start the season under 20 points of fewer.

Maybe the other teams you reference above had longer streaks, but not to start the season.

Again, I just overheard this on the radio. Didn't do research to verify its accuracy. I certainly could have heard it wrong.

I gotcha. The only one I knew off the top of my head was the 1973 team who only had Alabama score more than 20 on them all season in the bowl game. I had to look up the 2012 team and saw their first 8 games held opponents to under 20. I wish I worked in radio. I could say whatever I wanted lol.

This is exactly what Charlie Weis should of done in 2006, and 2007 wouldn't of been such a wreck.

If BW can learn when to go down and get out of bounds he can be the face of college football in 2018.

From my perspective at the game last weekend, he takes too many unneeded hits and or goes down awkwardly. He gets better every week passing the ball. Nothing against Book, but I don't want to see him playing unless it's garbage time.

42-17 Irish with the game out of hand by the beginning of the 4th. While I won't say Miami O has no chance because as a former athlete that would be the ultimate disrespect, I will say it'll be a challenging moment for MiO to overcome the talent gap as well as the situation (ND stadium and pageantry). I probably said the same thing about Tulsa a few years back but this D will bring the needed energy not to lay that kind of egg.

Had to bring up Tulsa, didn't you? I hated that game!!

HOW IN THE EFF DID WE LOSE TO TULSA..........AT HOME???!!!!

Tulsa gets my vote for the ugliest uniforms in football.

Bad memories. Forgot about that one until you brought it up. Thanks

Can ND starting a little slow in this game coming off the MSU game. Team a little banged up and might be hard to get up for this game. See ND pulling away in the second half (hopefully have been burnt before) and winning 49-20.

I try not to think of some of the "disasters" over the past few years but they remain a splinter in my brain. I really want to forget about all of them but I think the only way to do so will be through a natty. Until that happens, sleepless nights remain in my future...

I believe Drue Tranquill when he talks of the determination of this years team. Put me down for 38-19
