The Athletic is reporting that Troy university located in Alabama has fired its head coach. They listed Lance Taylor as one of the 6 candidates for the job:

Notre Dame run game coordinator/running backs coach Lance Taylor grew up in the state and was in on the South Alabama head coaching job last year. He’s produced a lot of talent, from Christian McCaffrey to Bryce Love to Kyren Williams, and he figures to get a close look at this job.

I could see the Troy job being of interest to Taylor. Troy is a member of the Sun Belt conference which, after the latest conference realignment that took place this summer, many think has a chance to become the top Group of Five conferences in the country. This Troy job might just be appealing to a guy who grew up in Alabama.
