Knapp

I would bet that Jagusah showed last night he is the right guard of the future. He looked very stout and comfortable there. I believe Lambert will be the starting left tackle next season.
Oh, okay. But whatever, he can still start there now, for the next game, if Knapp is unable to go. Jagusah, as everyone knows, before his injury was heralded as ND's next great LT who will become a 1st round pick, and was tops on the depth chart. So that's probably enough for him to do emergency duty in the national championship game. Even though next season he'll be beaten out, and will have to move inside.

Get Jagusah on the field. He came in and was an absolute ass-kicker. He can be a mauler in the run game. The PSU DL was trying hard to push us around. They could mess with Jagusah. If he stays healthy and stays engaged.....then he's gonna be a star.

And Fwiw.....I mentioned over the summer moving him to Guard. Several people jumped on me and said I was an idiot.

I wouldn't. Baker at tackle and Jagusah at guard
We need to know the status of both Rocco and Knapp. I thought Baker at LT was terrible last night, and Jagusah impressive at RG. If Rocco is good to go, I doubt they Disrupt the OL and replace him with Jagusah; although I think Jagusah is a better option. If Rocco can’t go, then Jagusah is the obvious answer. LT is not so clear imo. If Knapp can’t go, we have a major problem, and there is no really good answer. You have to value Baker’s experience, but you can’t ignore his weaknesses, especially in pass protection. Is Lambert ready to start his first game in a national championship game? Asking a lot! Do you move Jagusah over, and put someone like Absher at RG if Rocco can’t go? Anxious to hear the status of both Knapp and Rocco.

I said a few weeks back my ideal line next season would be left to right Lambert,Schrauth, Craig/Knapp, Jagusah and Wagner.

Jagusah did come in highly regarded. Not sure anyone projected him as a 1st rounder. I thought he played way way better in a half at right guard than he did in his one start at tackle against Oregon St. I believe he's better suited to the interior. One man's opinion that's all.

They all they did, all the pundits. But he hadn't played a snap yet, so it was all, you know, preliminary, just being complimentary. No one was putting any money down on it. But you get the point. He had that look, that he would be the next Ronnie Stanley! In any case, ND recruits top OL every year, we've already had this discussion, and they have to get their best five on the field somehow. So we'll see how it all shakes out. In the meantime that would be another little twist to ND's championship march. If Jagusah comes in and shuts down Jack Sawyer and we win the title!

And we'll probably have excellent OL play for the next two three seasons at least. It ended up being perfectly fine this year, and maybe this group will match some of BK's best units that played together for a couple of years or more.

Agree.

Baker looked like he got beat quite a few times last night. I saw Wagner got beat a bunch also but he had Carter to contend with so.

It seems like Knapp is legitimately injured, while Rocco was hurt.

I could see Rocco playing next week. I could see Knapp out. Means we have a decision to make at LT:

Baker or Jagusah

I am betting Jagusah. Pendleton can fill for Rocco if necessary.

Definitely Jagusah. Seems like he acquitted himself well enough. You don't have to lose your redshirt anymore in the postseason. And hell yeah, he can stake his claim right now on the starting LT spot for next season, as was the original plan, which I would think he'd love to have the opportunity to get back on track. Tosh Baker, god bless him, is what's known in the trade as a recruiting bust.

Depends on how healthy Rocco is.

If he's not at 95%, I'm starting Jagusah still at RG and Baker at LT
I watched my recording of the game last night and focused on Jagusah and Baker. Jagusah was really outstanding and a definite upgrade to Rocco, in both the run game and pass pro. I thought Baker had several good reps on runs and screen plays, but they attached a tight end to him many times to help with pass pro.

Jagusah was so much more athletic pulling. Frichan awesome. Agree leave him at guard

It ain’t tosh. I have no clue if he is but would be awesome if lambert was mentally ready. But he’s probably been practicing at RT more

I’m disappointed in Wagner mobility, he seems hurt or really stiff

Honestly, the beast option for LT right now is will black…. Joking not joking, not sure how he doesn’t start day 1

I’m trusting the staff to fill out the right combination. They had to make the baker , jagusah decision in game.
They’ll have time to figure it out.

How? Because he will have to beat out some combination of Lambert Jagusah Knapp depending on who gets moved where and he's not an early enrollee

I just don't see how Knapp can be healthy enough to be effective in such a short time frame. I lost 3 and half games to a similar injury in 1990. I know technology and treatment are much advanced since then but I'd be shocked if he even dresses.

Highly unlikely. My money is on Lambert next season.

Because he’s that good imo

Maybe best tackle prospect nd has ever had (coming out of hs)

I think the battle will be between Wagner lamber and black for the 2 starting tackle spots. Wagner with biggest experience and age advantage but not a lock

If he was an early enrollee I think he's in the mix but he's not. No way does Knapp start this year if he hadn't had a whole spring practice under his belt. If Lambert had been an early enrollee I'm guessing he would have been the guy.

I agree he's elite but it's not going to be easy. Wagner is basically a lock.

Black will be on a battle with some combination of those other 3 and without coming in early it will be very difficult to start early. Maybe later in the year

Wagner had a tough night against the best pass rusher in college football. It happens. He's been solid all year in my opinion and has a high ceiling.
