Kelly needs to be suspended next game....

if grimes is smart at all he'll be kissing kellys butt all over campus. his actions last night certainly won't endear him to others in his profession and his potential employment prospects elsewhere. my guess is Kelly said his peace and they'll all move forward. guaranteed it won't happen again.
Echo---you don't even know what Grimes did. Let's stop piling on the poor guy. He's a young guy, he messed up. It happens.

Inexcusable to be visibly pushing one of your graduate assistants on the sidelines. Especially when it's to an alumni and former player. Any assistant has every right to let bad officials know about bad calls.....happens on sidelines constantly across all levels of football. Don't blame your assistants for having a killer instinct while you and your AD have none when scheduling the other team's conference officials for both home and away games.

Hopefully while he's suspended he can think about the turkey he just coached against Temple. Just assured us we'll not be part of the Final 4 even though we'll have another loss anyways as Kelly always has 2 losses a year against inferior teams (not to mention his weekly struggles against other teams we manage to beat).
Grow up!

Did you ever play football? Shit like this happens all the time at virtually every level. I saw it in High School on the practice field and in the locker room. It is an emotional game and people get all worked up in the heat of the moment. It may not have been the perfect way to handle the situation but it happens. People react and then have to apologize later. No one takes it as being personal. They're grown men.

And you're saying we're delusional?

Exactly ! There a lot of posters who like I said earlier have zero understanding in regards to the game of football.

yes by all means. I'm sure the program would be in great hands with the coach all of you haters prefer over Kelly but can't seem to name who that is. too much anger and hate to enjoy 7-1 I guess.
I was at the game last nite - ND played a very good veteran defense , a defense that held Penn St to 140 less yds than Ohio State did . This game was spiked with danger , Temple was too good to establish the run on and it was really blustery down on the field . Given that we had two turnovers inside the 15 yd line it was a good win . Beating an undefeated team on the road vs a ranked opponent and leaving at least 6 pts on the field showed a lot of character .

I have spoken to a few major college coaches and they always say that winning games is really hard . Just a suggestion here but I would advise posters of tempering any posters opinion when that poster scoffs at the style of a win and scoff at a coach who with enormous obstacles this season and last poo poo a 7-1 record . Pissed off negative posters are ignorant to the difficulties that come with competition . It is soo obvious they know nothing about athletic competition - nothing . Philadelphia has been without major college football for 60 yrs and this was Temple and the cities shot to establish some cred in college football - this was an ambush in waiting -- internet trolls have no idea what ND survived last nite no idea
He was asked about it he said he was trying to control his sideline.

He was asked about it and Kelly said " David was going to get a 15 yd penalty and I was not going to let that happen " and guess what ND didn't get the 15 yd penalty . Kudos BK .

the same can be said to any of us here. for Kelly to react the way he did it had to be more than what we saw. remember none of us HEARD what occurred. none of us are also aware if this had been a previous issue or not. I don't think I'm piling on at all. I've been around grad assistants when I played. never , ever saw one act like grimes did last night. they should NEVER interact with officials.

based on what I saw I would fire him. zero tolerance for certain things. bet lou would have canned him. nobody harder on a staff than lou.
I've been as big a BK supporter here as anyone. I'm not taking either side. Crazy stuff happens during games. Guys get emotional when they really care about stuff----head coaches and grad assistants. I was a basketball GA (not at ND) for 2 years and I used to get all kinds of pissed off at officials. It's gonna happen. Let's let it go and move on to Pitt. I hope that BK doesn't discipline Grimes.

my guess is grimes got an earful from Kelly and Kelly got an earful from his bosses. I'm sure behind closed doors its over and the focus is on pitt. one of the best things about coaching is you don't have the luxury to dwell on the last game good or bad. next up !

His employer physically assaulted him at work. This is not pro wrestling. I get that you guys think college football is not really "normal" work, but the same rules and laws apply as in "normal" jobs whether you like it or not.
yeah he should sue if he never wants to be employed in sports again

I watched what Kelly did to Grimes again. It's unacceptable. I already knew Kelly was a scum bag but after watching it he should be publicly repremanded and fined. He's an elitist liberal though and he thinks he can do whatever he wants. I love the fire Grimes was showing. He'll probably be a great coach one day. He showed more fire than the ND team has shown on the road all season.

Kelly is classless. He'll never be an ND man like Grimes.
Careful there, your low iq is showing!!! Reprimand not repremand .

Well said Echo. Gonna be another tough one on the road Saturday night. Let's get em!

grimes should be fired. if not he should be kissing kellys ass . grimes was WAY out of line.

yes grimes was way out of line.. he ran up to Kelly and choked him? you are a freaking buffoon just like Kelly. A 55 year old grown man who is getting paid 4.5 million dollars a year should be able to keep his emotions in check. What he did was such a jack ass move. He should behave better than a rebellious teenager. Hopefully he learns from this and behaves and acts like a grown up in the future. absolutely no excuse to run up to grimes hold him from the collar and shove him.

oh please. should Kelly have asked him to "pretty please, shut his damn mouth " ? grimes was completely out of his role.
I ahve sat on the bench during some big
Michigan fans are celebrating after barely stopping Minnesota at the 1-yard line on the final play and beating a team that is 4-4.

Some Notre Dame fans are doing the normal bitching, pissing, and moaning following a win against a team that came in undefeated. Lost in their complaints is that Temple is actually pretty darn good, but that wouldn't fit their agenda. This was by far the biggest game in the history of that program and they came to play.

To me, it's the sign of a well-coached team to find a way to win when the chips are down in a hostile environment.

I'm from Philadelphia and was at the game . This was the biggest college football game in Philly since Roger Staubach and navy played Army @ JFK Stadium back in the early 60's . ND truly got Temple's best shot . ND survived two TO's in red zone and a really bad call given the circumstances by a ref late in the fourth qtr ( schumate ) .

This was huge win for the momentum of the program -- no style points but in the big picture a loss last nite would have been devastating . Kudos to all who contributed to an enormously important win .

I'm sure you are cool calm and collected at all times. what the hell does salary have to do with it ? grimes was way out of line and Kelly reacted. small potatoes except to the haters. name calling, very mature.

No he doesn't, he was controlling his sideline, we don't need a GA getting a 15 yard penalty for mouthing off to the refs. And I bet you Grimes doesn't even care Kelly shoved him back.

No! One of them came when head coach Brian Kelly pushed Notre Dame assistant strength and conditioning coach David Grimes was yell on one official. Kelly was grab his shirt and pull him away. David is not HC for ND! Kelly is control with all officials but not David! Next time David will not do again. Everthing will be fine.

What ? Have you ever even at least played the game of Football - even at the HS level ? BK did the correct thing and put his assistant coach back in line. IF DG had gotten a 15 yard penalty there and cost ND a win - this whole board would be calling for him to be fired. BK did not choke him - he gave him an aggressive grab and shove back away from the official. I'm glad our current coach has a pulse and is passionate. Ty would of stood still in his stoic look and watched a 15 yard flag get thrown. CW would been just as pissed as BK - but, he wouldn't of been able to get there quick enough to push the assistant away from the official and also would had to suffer a 15 yarder. Boob Davie - who the hell knows what he would of done. You people have no clue about the game of football. This is a non issue and you and a small number of idiots who have no clue about football want to try and turn a non issue into something. ND has the most idiotic fan base in all of College Football.

I'd be curious what you think the Barrett kid's punishment should have been for getting in a car drunk ? Because if you think THAT incident required a suspension then you must think the kid should be on a road gang for 6 months.

Hope he got his rear end chewed out by the administration, as he should had. He represents Notre Dame first and foremost, and gets paid lots of money to do so. Those who will say he gets paid to win games, there's lots of coaches who have won more without lashing out the way he has, and that hopefully has been addressed.

Lou was pretty animated also. Ara and Devine would not be so aggressive.Ty, was thinking of his upcoming tee times, Davie was thinking of his excuse at the presser and Weis was ...well no one knows what Weis was thinking.

Care to identify who these coaches might be?
