Inexcusable to be visibly pushing one of your graduate assistants on the sidelines. Especially when it's to an alumni and former player. Any assistant has every right to let bad officials know about bad calls.....happens on sidelines constantly across all levels of football. Don't blame your assistants for having a killer instinct while you and your AD have none when scheduling the other team's conference officials for both home and away games.

Hopefully while he's suspended he can think about the turkey he just coached against Temple. Just assured us we'll not be part of the Final 4 even though we'll have another loss anyways as Kelly always has 2 losses a year against inferior teams (not to mention his weekly struggles against other teams we manage to beat).

I remember my first beer.

^^^^^^. What an idiot! You obviously know nothing about football, coaching or leadership!
Don't blame me for 25 years of ND Football dysfunction. It's enabalers like yourself that allow bad coaching and now bad behavior to flourish unchecked.

Bobby Knight was less egregious than Brian Kelly was on the sideline tonight.

yes so to fix that dysfunction you would like to "get rid" of BK i suppose.. you know the only coach thats gotten us to the #1 ranking and NCG in the last 25 years, who's won over 70% of his games and is like 2nd in college for total wins? Gotcha, seems reasonable

Actually, it's fairly common knowledge that assistants should do very little communicating with officials at almost every level. In high school, I'd always tell the head coach you can get away with a quite a bit, but I'm throwing a flag if the other coaches get out of hand. As an official you can deal with one guy yelling at you, but when its multiple it can make your job very difficult.

He learned lots from that experience.....CFB is no like doing a performance review at a company....its real, its immediate, its in your face.......BK is the alpha on that field....let him do the coaching

Spin City! Grand Valley State is where most those wins were obtained....small time doesn't count in the big time.

#1 until we played Alabama and the team was completely unprepared and got embarrassed....was at the game - air went out the ND side of the stadium as the game was over at the end of the 1st quarter....wished he had gone to the NFL then.

Well he didn't so get used to it. Kelly is the coach and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. We have one loss this year. 1. If you want to fire a coach for one loss then you can go off yourself.

I think he wants to suspend the coach for getting physical with his staff in front of cameras on the sideline in a game. Do not believe firing the coach after one loss was the issue.

I agree. that was inexcusable behavior for him to run after fellow assit. coach like a buffoon and grab him by the collar and shove him. This is bordering on Bob Knight-esc behavior.

What fact book are you using. Please explain to us what this means? is like 2nd in college for total wins?

Kelly is an asshole plain and simple. I'm absolutely glad we won but you don't do that. That was David grimes, former great ND receiver. I would not have been surprised if he had punched Kelly in the face for that. I just hope he apologizes to him, considering we won and he isn't losing his mind about now. I think the pressure at Notre Dame is just too much for him.

Is it Hoopsstar or Hole in Your Head ? you and the others who continue to hate on Bk -really do not like it when we win. Not sure why you and Turn Your Head Into his Arse hate ND so much.

Very glad That BK has some passion - have coached a long time and no matter how bad the officiating is - an assistant cannot make things worse and get a penalty as well - very glad BK made a point to put Grimes in his place. Thank god we have a coach who has a pulse and gets it.

Like I said, glad we pulled it out. Don't care for the head coach, however, or any coach behaving like that plain and simple. It's already making the espn ticker and will be discussed further I'm sure. If most of you are ok with that than good for you.

I love how guys like this expect every game to be a cake walk. There's no team in college football that goes out there and demolishes their opponent week in and week out. Every team has weeks where it looks as though they r going down. The good teams find ways to win which ND has all year besides the clemson game...enjoy the ride while u can we r lucky to have a coach as successful as BK who works hard in recruiting and truly wants to win. Its college football people every week is do or die and we r still alive be happy. GO ND!!

Spot on Dukie ! Great Post and 100% Dead on !

Grimes will be lucky if he has a job tomorrow. If a coach on the sidelines gets a 15 yard penalty then it needs to be the head coach and not some young weight room assistant coach. David should know better than jaw at an official. Kelly just took control of a bad situation.

Agree Ara. 100 % Correct.

FLAME!

I remember a game where Lou went onto the field and grabbed one of the players by the facemask and pulled him off the field (can't remember the player's name) for committing a penalty. It was also caught on national television, but I don't think Lou should have been suspended for that. Both coaches probably could have handled the situation better but I don't believe either of their actions would warrant a suspension.

I watched what Kelly did to Grimes again. It's unacceptable. I already knew Kelly was a scum bag but after watching it he should be publicly repremanded and fined. He's an elitist liberal though and he thinks he can do whatever he wants. I love the fire Grimes was showing. He'll probably be a great coach one day. He showed more fire than the ND team has shown on the road all season.

Kelly is classless. He'll never be an ND man like Grimes.

Let him cost ND wins by going for 2 needlessly. He's worthless.

You can understand his alma mater was getting screwed all night, right? The officials were so biased it was ridiculous. I'm glad someone tried to voice their opinion to the POS refs. All the michiganders on the staff couldn't care less if ND won. DG wants it bad. I like it. Kelly coaches scared and he's a Michigan man.

The level of stupidity here is breathtaking.

Grimes was out of line, Kelly took control and did exactly what he should have done to get his point across. Grimes will be a better coach if he emulates such passion.

That was Huntley Backich. I remember it very well.

But, since it was Lou, those on this thread that have a problem with BK wouldn't have the same problem with Lou doing it.

That was terrible to watch - I thought the Philly Police were going to arrest Kelly after that assault.

you are completely off base.no, every assistant does not have that right. I hope the grad assistant gets canned. he was way out of line and I applaud Kelly. he got the moron away from the situation. understand that officials at that level will tolerate a certain level of barking by a head coach. they are certainly not going to tolerate nonsense from someone on the sideline who doesn't even have a headset on. perhaps you would have preferred nd be assessed a 15 yard penalty ? again I hope Kelly cans him. know your role.

yes by all means. I'm sure the program would be in great hands with the coach all of you haters prefer over Kelly but can't seem to name who that is. too much anger and hate to enjoy 7-1 I guess.

It wasn't a good scene. Kelly could have handled it a little better. Don't you think?
of course but in the heat of the moment you react. trying to save your team from a 15 yard penalty. maybe he should have asked to pretty please keep quiet. I love the passion.
