Kelly Blames Fundraising for 4-8 Season

I actually read the article today .... because I rarely read anything BK is spewing ... proof the guy still doesn't get it .... participating in fundraisers and doing public speaking on behalf of the university .... is .... and ALWAYS has been .... a part of being head coach at ND .... deal with it .... but no .... he is passing the buck again

To those that say he accepted blame after last year .... that is junk .... and apparently not any more ..... it was only a PR ploy since it was obvious he needed to do something with billboards going up (literally) calling for his head after he was called out ALL SEASON for blaming everyone else

BK is a fraud ... he should run for political office ..... he'd make a great politician
Amen brother great post, although penisick and echo aint gonna like it

All the positive moves since the end of 2016 don't give you any hope ? Sure last year was awful but the season before that took them into the hunt for the playoff into November. I guess it's what each individual chooses to focus on as a fan. I m optimistic.
echo. Most of us real fans are always positive but it has become a very difficult to buy into BK as a HC . 2017 has to be better . It can't be worse so yes I am confident we will improve but what will determine BK's fate ? Does 8-5 do it ?

It's been a while, but wasn't most of the talent from 2009 freshman/red shirt freshmen?

Weis recruited great offensive talent, but he generally flailed in landing solid defensive guys. Hard for me to zealously defend him, but I don't think anything he did compares to the baffling end zone pick vs Tulsa, the Little Giants play vs MSU, the bizarre 2 point conversion attempt vs Northwestern, defying the hurricane vs NC State...to name a few.

Clausen as an NFL ready Jr, ditto for Golden Tate, Floyd and Rudolph were true sophomores who had started as freshmen.

That's an NFL ready arsenal with a general who is above average a an Xs&Os coordinator.
That [de]elevates a normal ND failure to the ultimate on I cannot think of any analogous situations. BK improved the team despite having Rees instead of Clausen.

Ya know if forced to choose between a lame genius like Weis who calls the right plays for a bunch of unmotivated prima donnas and an the oaf called Les Miles whose players would run 100 miles to go nowhere; I'd probably hire the meathead. College football is about Larrys and Joes, when they're well coached they'll beat up any apathetic team.

If Kelly is to be credited for maxing out Rees (although I thought Rees was better than regarded and being the son of a HS coach steeled him to Kelly's sideline tirades), he must also bear part of the blame for the failure to develop 5 star talents Crist and Kiel.

Oh really? Are you bk housekeeper or his mistress? You don't know $hit. How do you know? Seeing that you were on this sight last night at 6:30 you obviously aren't the coach you think you are. Oh that's right, Pop Warner plays on Saturdays. coach my a$$
Huh ? Our season does not start until next Friday. Stalking me ?

My point has been that he is still the coach. None of us here will ever have any say so in that decision. I ve always said that I believe he is a very good coach, not a great one. My mind hasn't changed after one bad season. There's more to it than just game day. I don t think 8-5 would save his job but who knows ? The haters here never offer any legitimate alternatives they just hate.

Kiel does not belong in that conversation.

Geez. Blair Kiel played while Gerry Faust was coach. You missed it by a mere 30 years.

Kiel quit and Crist had multiple knee injuries. That isn't on the head coach.

Lets just say Kelly's handling of those 2 5-star QBs was like the way has botched so many things.
I wouldn't t call the handling of those two botched at all. One chose not to compete and one underperformed....at two places.stars mean nothing once you graduate high school.

That's pure nonsense.kiel left because he didn't t want to compete for a job. Blaming Kelly for that is silly.
You are just speculating about why he left. It dubious how much of a chance Kelly gave him. His handling of Kizer/Zaire attests to his hamfistedness.

You really don't know the story about Kiel, and Crist was damaged goods when he left ND.

Fine with me.
