This needs to end immediately. He's available, he had success before, no buyout.

The call needs to be made.

Hell no, we're not hiring Chip Long. It's on to that dude from Kent St.

Shit, I can't believe we're not getting Ludwig, I thought that shit was in the bag! Is three million a huge buyout for a top-rated coordinator?

Though, with respect to Sean Lewis, how are we supposed to hire him, he was just hired by CU like six weeks ago....

Those dude may not be on the board anymore. It damages their brand to be the second choice.

Did Rees have a game as bad as 2019 Michigan?
Maybe 2020 Louisville but we actually gained yards.

is this serious, that game was in a monsoon and we know that's a kelly issue......... 2022 Marshall we barely had over 300 yards, not sure if we had over 300 vs stanford one of the worst teams we played. We had negative yards second half vs navy. We had about 240 total yards vs ohio state and they were a average to bad D this year.

No weather issues any of these games

Jesus Christ, we're not hiring Chip Long. He was forced out pretty much for NOT being a cultural fit at ND. So like, the book on Chip Long is someone we know we definitely DON'T want. And that's what his time at ND told us. Not that, coaching under BK, he had some real success, and so we know he's capable of winning here. What we learned, if anything, and much more apropos to ND in particular, is that we don't want this guy. We don't want him at ND. He has some coaching chops, but just the same, do not want...

So F no, we're not hiring Chip Long....

That is simply totally false.

Let's count the ways:

He wasn't forced out. He didn't get along with Kelly, because Kelly didn't like being forced to hire him. Kelly liked even less that long was more successful than Mike Denbock (and later Rees).

Kelly wanted more control over the offense and pushed a narrative that has been disavowed by the vast majority of players and Coaches Harry Heistand.

In reality, Long likes Notre Dame. Got along with EVERYONE. he simply wasn't going to be controlled by Kelly which ultimately led to Longs departure as well as Harry Heistand.

We're not hiring Chip Long. I know you relish the opportunity to bash BK yet again, and to slander him, so obviously you're not going to miss that trick. But apparently he was generally unpopular and it wasn't just the demon-child BK poisoning everything in a six-mile radius and the truth is that CL is just one hell of a guy and it's only BK that was the real cancer in the football program.

You really have serious issues, sir. You persecute and denigrate and slander BK on a level that is pathological. You gotta get a hold of that shit somehow....

I do

I thought the players didn't like Long.
I don’t see Long and Freeman hitting it off. Long is hard and cussed at players. I don’t mind that but he’s a better BK fit. I think it’s Parker as Freeman is probably out of options.

Note any source from players saying he was unpopular. I'll wait.

Did you read my question? "as bad"

ND had @180 yards of total offense @Mich in 2019. Michigan had over 400. Both teams play in the same weather.

Yeah I just can’t compare a monsoon to regular weather…. Kelly had major issues in rain

From an Athletic article that site Kelly meeting with his players before dismissing Long:

Kelly used some form of “best interests of the program” seven times Saturday, enough to make the point he believed that the dynamics surrounding Long had become a drag on the entire operation. It shouldn’t be lost that even though Kelly said players didn’t drive the decision, the head coach had already met with all potential returnees, which includes Book and Cole Kmet.

Considering how Kelly has empowered his roster for leadership purposes, it’s difficult to believe the head coach did not take some feedback from players on Long and his impact on who would come back and who would not.

IF Freeman decides to vet him I would think HH would be a valuable and honest resource.
