If you were in charge of recruiting...

Not sure this falls under strategy or tactic, but I would allow signing of junior college players as long as they met the criteria for academics and were not beyond their sophomore year. Just because you went to a junior college does not mean you lack the grades. There are many reasons why kids take this route. It sure would help to sign players that had a couple years development that could fill holes immediately.

We already do what you suggest. Or we would do it if we found the right kid. The fact is, there are almost no players who meet that description. In 99% of cases, kids went to JUCO because they had no four year college offers, or at least none that they liked, or they did not have the grades to play at the higher level, which means they did not meet the NCAA minimum standards. In the case of the former it's not likely they are going to be a player that we would want two years later, in the latter case that kid has almost zero possibility of meeting ND's academic standards, even if he somehow managed to become eligible by NCAA standards. That's just the reality of it. We have no policy against taking JUCOs, that's a myth. Just finding one that works is just about impossible.

I would have more junior days and throw big dances and concerts on Saturday nights. I would make the Irish Invasion the must come to event of the summer. I would start it on Thursday night with an old fashion BBQ and finish it with interviews on Sunday afternoon and a big concert in the Ice Arena. I would want my top 100 juniors with offers in hand by the bowl game and letters sent out to my top 100 in the sophomore class. I would also want my top 50 identified in the freshman class. I would try and get the young men to ND for official visits during the football season. It's important they see ND on a football weekend. I would want them and their parents to experience the pep rally and team meal on Friday night. Those are a few goals that I would get done as Recruiting Coordinator at ND.
Wow, that is actually some great stuff.. you should consider applying for the RC position. ;)

It wouldn't hurt to have alum's at these events. Not only some current and former NFL players but also some well-to-do alums with their swag.. cars, jets etc. Kids love that stuff.

I would do camps in other regions under the the "Invasion" in the title like West Coast invasion, Southern Invasion, and East Coast Invasion. ND really needs to put pressure on these regions. New Jersey and Pennsylvania needs to be the focus on the east coast especially with ND's history with talent from those states. Louisiana is a state that should be a huge recruiting state for ND with the large amount of private and Catholic schools here. ND needs to be more visible in the South. A kid like Nick Brossette could have been a good candidate bc of the competition at his position at LSU.
