If ND wins out, how soon would we know what

playoff game they would go to? I'd love to surprise my wife and get tickets and fly out to the game. The issue is that she is a nurse and their schedules come out every four weeks and I want to know if I'd have enough time before her schedule would be released to get tickets, hotel, airfare.

I know if ND wins out, on the 24th they'd be in but I'd have no way of knowing what location they'd go to due to seeding.

Any thoughts, or advice?

Unfortunately it appears that you are going to have to wait until after the SEC Championship game assuming GA and Bama win out. Absolutely no way the committee has those teams immediately play each other again. At this point I believe ND jumps to #2 and plays #3 Bama if GA wins, or I think they move ND down to #4 following a Bama win and a Clemson Championship game victory to avoid the ND rematch with GA.

I think people sometimes forget that this is a tv show and the committee isn't in place to make things "fair", it's about generating ratings and revenue.

Maybe an outside chance at a first round rematch with GA, but it appears to be a collision course with Bama right now but a crapshoot as to which venue.

Assuming we are not going to be #1, you are going to have to wait until the final poll comes out. But given where the top teams are located geographically, there's a real likelihood that #1 v #4 is going to be in the Sugar Bowl and #2 v #3 is going to be in Pasadena. But you won't know for sure what number we are until the final poll.

I'm quite sure if Bama or Georgia end up as the #1 seed and ND ends up as the #2 or #3 seed they will play in the Rose Bowl. Whoever is the #1 gets the game that's located closest to their campus. So of course either Bama or Georgia would get the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans as the #1 seed vs whoever is the #4.

If ND wins out I'd put my money on them getting the #2 or #3, and playing in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day at 5 est. If you go on Stubhub right now tix to the Rose Bowl are around $280 a tix after fees and taxes. I'd buy those tix now if I were you and take the chance that they get slotted there. If they don't you can always sell them. With the high end programs lurking around the top 4 it will be easy to sell your tix and once the matchups are announced the tix prices are going to sky rocket. ND vs either Bama, Georgia, Oklahoma, or Clemson in the Rose bowl will be a crazy expensive ticket. If trying to save money on tix isn't an issue I'd just wait and see.

To answer your original question the selection of the playoff teams and matchups will be announced during the selection show on Sunday Dec, 3rd at noon est.

I honestly wish the team had a first week of December game with either BYU or Army to bridge that gap between games.

Too bad ND couldn't play a 13th game vs Army every year on Championship weekend. Play it at noon.
