If Mayer & Foskey left the team, why are they on the sideline?

And they should have been.

If for no other reason than to send a signal !

Come on, put on your professional networking hat.

:D

They will be great future references and recruiters for ND.

Why burn alumni who will be in the NFL?

They're just protecting their future.

As we keep incessantly discussing, this new reality is why ND needs to recruit in depth to adjust for players opting out, transferring, and getting injured...which you understand better than me.

Kinda a promo for the program but, as much as I like both of them and respect their decision, i couldn't help feeling something wasn't right about it.

In today’s CFB world with the TP it’s almost impossible to recruit that kind of depth.

Talented players who don’t start will transfer to a school where they will start, ergo depth goes out the window

Because their teammates and their coaches want them there? They themselves want to be there and nobody has a problem with it?

Out sunshine pumping their own personal shtick….couldn’t give a flying f..k about ND

If they didn’t care about the program and their teammates then they wouldn’t be there at all. If the coaches in the players didn’t want them there than they wouldn’t be there at all. It’s not that hard to understand.

“They wouldn’t miss it for anything!”

You should both be playing, not watching

Frankly, it was nice to see an offense that was diversified and spread the ball around rather than locking down on Mayer all game. In the first two drives, we targeted Thomas, Colzie, and Mitchell. We don’t get any of that with Mayer playing. If Mayer played, then that’s all we would see. Of course the defense will be better with Foskey.

I get the financial decision to sit out, but this is what doesn't make sense to me. Mayer and Foskey knew after the Marshall game making the playoffs was not an option. So why did they play the other games? What's so different about playing against UNLV in the regular season and not playing USC in the bowl game? Did their draft stock dramatically go up because of the UNLV game? No. It's a free country and everyone can do what they want and don't owe us an explanation (maybe their coaches and teammates though). On a personal note, I would have been EMBARRASSED to be doing a sideline interview in ND gear during a bowl game with my brothers playing on the field. Especially since Jarrett Patterson played.

Don’t ruin a stupid fake narrative!

You also dont want coaches looking over their shoulders. But yeah I think going into the offseason he has to have some conversations with him
To be fair I think all things considered Freeman did a good job this year. To be able to come back from 0-2 after a loss to Marshall and still win 9 games against a tough schedule with mediocre QB play, I don't think Kelly could've done that.

Either way the running back situation was baffling all year.

100 percent. I've been complaining about it all year

.Estime gained 95, Diggs gained 89.

If you didn’t play both of them, one would transfer.

In addition, RB’s take a terrible physical beating, hence resting and rotating them makes perfect sense.

You have so much to learn and my time is very limited ! 😜

So they should risk their career to play one game? They gave enough and have made $millions for the school.

In short, YES. That’s your teammates you’ve spent your career with. IMO, you owe it to them. You also owe it to the university who gave you a free education and the platform to profit off of your likeness and advance in your career professionally. There’s no I in TEAM.

Maybe it was the QB??

Perfectly fine with Diggs and Estime splitting carries. My issue is with running Tyree up the middle - those carries are wasted. He’s too small. He needs to accept a different role next year - either slot receiver or much reduced running back and special teams role. Frankly, I am ok if he transfers. Seems like a good guy but too small to be an up the middle running back - his speed is only a threat when he is in space.
