Looking at the forecast for Saturday’s game, and there is not a doubt in my mind that the weather will play a huge role in the final outcome. 84 degrees with 75% humidity is going to wreak havoc on the interior line in the second half. That’s not to say the Irish aren’t going to pull one out, but I think there is a better chance of Tony Rice taking the first snap from center than the Irish dismantling this Miami team (some predictions have the Irish 52-14, 41-6, etc.).
I know Miami’s run defense has been porous at times, but the humidity should slow the Irish ground game down and keep the score close. I think Brandon Wimbush will make some plays downfield, and the defense should have a better game than last week (Miami is horrendous in 3 down conv %), however you are going to see whether or not Bilas is worth his weight in gold in the second half. The effect of the weather on the trenches will definitely go a long way in determining this game.
