Looking at the forecast for Saturday’s game, and there is not a doubt in my mind that the weather will play a huge role in the final outcome. 84 degrees with 75% humidity is going to wreak havoc on the interior line in the second half. That’s not to say the Irish aren’t going to pull one out, but I think there is a better chance of Tony Rice taking the first snap from center than the Irish dismantling this Miami team (some predictions have the Irish 52-14, 41-6, etc.).

I know Miami’s run defense has been porous at times, but the humidity should slow the Irish ground game down and keep the score close. I think Brandon Wimbush will make some plays downfield, and the defense should have a better game than last week (Miami is horrendous in 3 down conv %), however you are going to see whether or not Bilas is worth his weight in gold in the second half. The effect of the weather on the trenches will definitely go a long way in determining this game.

You're nuts. The game is Saturday night and the weather will be perfect for a great game.

I don’t think it’s as easy as “drink some water” and you’ll be fine... especially when dealing with an homeostatic environment (such as the body). I was at the Miami game when ND played them in the Sun bowl, and ironically there was no sun until the second half when temps began to rise. If you remember that game, ND jumped out early and was able to keep the lead comfortably throughout the game. Looking at Miami’s sideline, it looked like they were dressed to spend two weeks in the artic, not play a football game (and it showed).

You are kidding yourself if you think humidity won’t wear down the big fellows up front. Basic physiology paints a very clear picture. It comes down to Bilas, and the program he implemented. That’s not to say they won’t be prepared, but a big question mark, indeed.

They way people are talking about this, you’d think it was going to be 110 degrees with 99% humidity. 75 degrees and 70% humidity is nice weather people. Just a month ago it was around that weather for us.

It was that warm at ND early in the season. Drink some water all week and they will be fine.
Drink water etc ? I live in Florida about 1 hour north of Miami on the Coast. For the Linemen 75 and 75% will not be nice midway through the 2nd half, especially in the 4th quarter. Rotating bodies will be extremely important. For those predicting a blowout, good luck.
