Is OSU in the top 3? They have player ZERO ranked teams. They don't play NW, Iowa or Wisconsin in conference and their OOC is a joke. The voting is suppose to be THIS year, not what you did last year. This team has played no one, and has shown nothing. Just hoed to show you how stupid the voting, polling, committee is.

I am not even sure how you can make an argument for them with a straight face. I mean come on.

Hard to argue for, but even harder to argue against an undefeated team that was NC last year.

Yep. They say its not a part of the process and that is fine, but we all know if nd were defending champs and then undefeated but not playing optimal, we'd be pretty pissed about not having the right to defend that title. It's a tough spot for the committee to be in because I don't disagree with OP either.

Napy, I agree we'd be pissed in a similar situation, but we'll be pissed this year if we take care of business and don't get in. OSU has played absolutely ZERO ranked teams, and they've looked pedestrian at best in a lot of their games. No way they've earned that kind of ranking based on this season, so called "earned on the field". It's pure BS. The voting is suppose to be this year and not year over year. As far as defending the title, we'll that's been going on all regular season. There not suppose to get a pre-ordained invite. It's crap, and everyone should see that for what it is.

One could make some points about how they haven't had a big win thus far...but "how the hell are they top 3" is quite a stretch of outrage. First, there are only 4 undefeated teams from power conferences. Next, they've won pretty convincingly in nearly all their games. Third, their OOC was decent when stacked against one like OkSt.

What's the right spot for them, 4? If the committee is off by 1 spot, I don't see where the outrage comes from.

They'll get their chance in the next several weeks to solidify their position...or to lose it. Don't worry...it will all play out.

Why does last year make any difference? I have never understood such logic, or lack thereof. This is CFB the OSU team lost plenty and is not last years team.

No team should be judged at all on "last year."

I think some of the posters here think some of the spots should just go vacant. There seems to be a lot of sentiment that Clemson and ND should be highly ranked. There is also a lot of sentiment that Alabama and Ohio St. are vastly overrated. I think some people would have Clem, son # 1, and ND # 2, followed by vacant positions at 3, 4, 5, and 6. Then they would insert Bama and Ohio St. in the 7 and 8 slots.

If ND won the title in 2012, then went 10-0 the following season but wasn't playing optimally, would you want them to drop behind a one loss team? My answer is hell no, Id want the right to defend our title. Furthermore, Zuskie makes some great points about osu, I won't repeat them but it was a good post. We're talking about an osu team that has won what, 20 games in a row? If they win out they deserve to be in. If they aren't good enough they will lose and drop. It will get worked out.

Last week's committee had Ohio St. 3 and Iowa 5. Not a huge difference.
Let me ask one question, if I may,

Please list both OSU and Bama's signature win(s). Watching ESPN, they keep dumping on Navy (which really pisses me off) as NDs only signature win. So what is OSU's and Bama's signature win

If Notre Dame had hypothetically lost half their 2012 team to graduation that would likely not start the season out number 1. If they were 12-0 in the 2013 season history would tell you they would have a pretty good chance of repeating, but they should not be ahead simply because of 2012. That is just stupid!

Finally Mike Belotti on ESPN's Champ show ranked ND ahead of Ohst and mentioned their weak schedule. Yet almost all the talk is about ND vs Okl instead of how Ohst is ranked at all. Where is their marquee game let alone win vs a top 25 team?

At this point, they are the undefeated, defending National Champions.

Exactly, that's what I am asking. Being champs from last year should not mean squat for this year. Different year, different team
