How much of the surprisingly close USC game can be tied to excess travel time?

After the Syracuse game, there were a lot of gloating and giddy posters exulting with the claim that the quashing of Syracuse should put an end to complaints about adding extra miles to an already extremely ambitious travel intensive schedule. I know there was also the issue of it being rightfully a home game, but travel was also a theme. Some people suggested that the hidden cost of traveling might well be reflected in the Irish performance vs. USC. Well, we all know that that Irish didn't bring their A game last night. How much of that can be attributed to the travel?
