How many of the coaches ranked above BK would you want at ND?

So only Jan 1st bowl games count ? How dumb. Unless you make the playoff no bowl games matter anymore. One season removed from a ten win season. I expect no less than 9 wins this year. The sky is not falling.

I never said the sky was falling nor did I say that Jan 1st bowl games are the "only" thing that matters. Your reading comprehension skills need a boost. The issue presented is where Kelly ranks as a head coach on the linked list. I submit to you that losing 4-5 games annually coupled with the fact he has ZERO meaningful bowl wins in his D1 career does matter a whole helluva lot.

Again, he was #12 a year ago and dropped after one bad season. Still top 15 in my book.

You wrote the book on mediocrity! Too bad the only varsity sport you played was cleaning the toilets!

I am increasingly perplexed why Kelly gets loyalty when he has given none.
While at ND, What has he proven to have excelled at?
There have been: no nationally relevant achievements, academic scandels, program related tragedies, players getting arrested, ND needing to appeal sactions vacating W's for 2 seasons, assistant coachs hired and fired for 'failures' as if the head coach was not part of the decision chain, publically throwing players and coaches under the bus, having to be directed/chastised as to sideline behavior; and yet, the beat goes on and on.
And then there are the flagrant and futile overtures for other coaching jobs!
And all this while averaging 4+ losses a season.
Is this a record that warrents such 'blind faith' loyalty? What accomplishments are 'positives'?

Good grief! Why?

No toilet cleaning when I played in the big 10. I forget, what is your football pedigree ? Please enlighten us.

^ that guy thinks taking some shots in the head qualifies him as the foremost authority.
Leo Derocher never played in the Major Leagues. Does he think Mike Tyson would be a great manager or trainer because he got his head beat in?
There are lottsa coaches that never played the sport they coach in.
And many media pundits that never played any sport. WTH is his psychological profile to get so hung up on the same diatribe in about every thread.

"...Vince Lombardi, who is widely considered the greatest head coach of all-time, never played in the NFL. Neither did Bill Walsh or Paul Brown...."

The echowanker has been exposed as a fraud time and time again.... you can tell he's never played competitively at any significant level. I guess having his lunch money pilfered every day has led to his demented fantasies.

"Amid the Great Depression, Red played basketball at PS 122 and in the Eastern District High School, where he was named "Second Team All-Brooklyn" by the World-Telegram in his senior year. Auerbach received an athletic scholarship to the basketball program of Bill Reinhart at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.[2] Auerbach was a standout basketball player and graduated with a M.A. in 1941.[6] In those years, Auerbach began to understand the importance of the fast break, appreciating how potent three charging attackers against two back-pedalling defenders could be.[2]...

and we know the rest of the story!

Please elaborate. Played for Michigan State 87 to 91. I have been coaching at the division 1 high School level in Ohio for 22 years. You ?

but, you agree, that playing at MSU was not a pre-requisite to being a high school coach; that there are instancs where successful coaches have not played at any level of college football.
This is a stance you try to 'make so' so so often. You may have 'stunk' as a football player and have gone onto a good high school coaching career; or vice versa!

Point: you ain't all that. Others opinions=yours.

And not a single post on an MSU board ..... very unlikely! Lols.

^ I am not denegrading his ties to MSU, nor his coaching career, My point is that his point is NOT THE ONLY POINT. He should not challenge posts on the basis of his 'being better'.

I don t. What I do know is that my football related posts and opinions at least come from extensive practical hands on experience. Pooh Pooh that all you d like. I pride myself on my understanding of the game and yes it does irk me when some make ridiculous posts that are completely off base. I know what I know. I ve lived it from playing to coaching to recruiting. I ve learned from some of the best.

and that's why you can't learn anything. Your opinion is demented and narcissistic.
Put a sock in the 'you know more about anything...! you don't.

As an MSU fan, that explains your love of BK!

I know way more than you do about every phase of the game. That's indisputable. I can learn plenty and have from many mentors. Unlikely any of us here can learn anything from you about the game of football.

^ Forrest Evashevski days?

didn't a lot of his players go both ways in those days? (when going both ways meant offense&defense)

Well, since reportedly, BK's agent worked to find a gig for him, one might guess he looked at the NFL and probably the top 25 college spots with no takers. So.

Yeah and I played in the NFL from 2005 till 2012. Probably coaching the PEEWEES in Pop Warner in Ohio. What a joke
