How did we lose to Louisville?

Was thinking the same thing—- how the hell did we lose to these guys

It's virtually impossible to read into this unless there is a smoking gun. I don't see one. The real test will be the usual one...on the green field, in a bowl game and next season.

My guess is ND again will be a top 20 team. I doubt top 10 can happen. Too much transition and clearly by now I know Freeman I learning on the job, but at least from a decent base of ability...and so far it seems nothing has changed about ND getting elite talent to be top 10, never mind being elite for a NC run.

I think angst over being elite makes us try to read into every development.

Cards have a pretty good offense. FSU's defense was phenomenal tonight.

They played well against ND. You guys played just so-so. That was enough to earn a W for Louisville.

Seems like coach Brohm gets his teams up for one big game every year. Remember how he gave O$U fits when he was at Purdue. This year his game was against ND.

Yes, not one time in the last 10 years has ND won a big game. If you would like to know why no one takes your whiny, hyperbolic and ridiculous comments seriously? Go back and read them out loud to yourself. Maybe you will finally understand what the rest of us know already.
I thought that the Oklahoma game was a big win

It was a big game. The notion you could play NDs schedule and go to a BSCG and make 2 CFP appearances, and have 2 CFP near misses in 2015 & 2021, and not have won 1 “big game” in the process, is to absurd to debate.

For some ND fans in the age of the internet. Every game ND wins is a layup and a game they should win. And every game ND loses is a “big game”. This won’t stop until ND wins another National Title.

Uncertain to what extent, but seems Jawhar Jordan was still not fully recovered from an injury he suffered after Notre Dame game. A bit of difference when he was the difference-maker against the Notre Dame defense.

I think the stretch of tough games prior (which says alot about conditioning) played the biggest factor

You’re 100 % correct !

7 straight games. 1 being overseas

3rd Straight night game. 3rd straight tough ranked team

Some players were on exam week
What’s the fatique differential between a night game and a day game ?

Lots of teams play 7 straight games.

I always objected to playing overseas, but the impact is diminished with each passing week

Notre Dame has been a second to third tier team for much of the last 10-15 years. Their undefeated seasons or playoff seasons were heavily buoyed by poor ACC schedules, rival programs being down, and lots of good luck. Notre Dame was exposed every time as a pretender in each of those playoff/playoff-competing seasons when they finally matched up with a team in the tier 1

NDs best win in the last 10 years is probably their close loss to Georgia in 2017 and their win against Michigan State back in 2013 which was MSU's only loss that year

I don't think Notre Dame ever finished a season inside the top five ONCE in F+ during the entirety of the Brian Kelly era. Notre Dame hasn't had an elite national title worthy roster that could beat anybody in multiple decades

The fatigue excuse is just that. Tons of teams play almost all night games. Was just an underachieving year for us.

It was a confluence of factors. Our team looked tired that night, in their 3rd straight tough night game. And Louisville and their crowd were really up for the game. Then we made 5 turnovers, which didn't help, obviously. It was just a bad game all-around.

This is not accurate. It is just the latest instance of Chase slamming Notre Dame. ND has played in the national championship game once and on two other occasion, was in the playoffs. Between 2012 to the present, ND has had 7 ten win seasons. We may win 10 again this year. These are not the statistics of a second or third tier team, but, again, Chase loves to denigrate anything and everything about Notre Dame.

There is a reason that the NFL teams get an automatic bye after playing overseas. ND got none. Plus third straight high-leverage games in a row with USC looming the next. Couple that with ND have some injures that allowed the Lou to put 9 men in the box is a recipe for a loss... Which Notre Dame got.

That’s not true, it’s not automatic and the individual teams usually get to make the call.

The primary reason has to do with the nightmare of logistics related to going overseas.

ND plays weak football. #Soft that’s how. NDBDSM78 will sell smoke up your bum but he has a CLASSIC agenda. ND couldn’t care any less about football. The fans should step up and when we boycott $$$$$$ ND SOFT will change its Sun Bowl bla bla BS.
