James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh
Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon
Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma
Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

QB's:
Trevone Boykin, QB, TCU
J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones, QBs, Ohio State
Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State
Cody Kessler, QB, USC
Taysom Hill, QB, BYU
Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
Anu Solomon, QB, Arizona
Everett Golson, QB, Florida State

It seems important to you to declare two FSU players as pre-season candidates. One is a running back that starts the season somewhere outside the top five RBs and the other is a qb that had 20+ turnovers last year. You might get more traction with this post on warchant, unless you are just trying to pull hair.

Yes, he's a hair puller, always has been, that's why Wax sent him to the corn, the new format gave the children of the corn a portal to return to mischief making.

A few years back Kessler participated in Sanchez' Jets camp west at Mission Viejo HS. He was on fire and letting things rip. I spoke to a number of Jets receivers/backs and asked about his velocity among other things. Every player gave solid feedback on him. I posted on the southern cal board what I had seen and wrote that he would win the Heisman. He can make a run and the reports out of the southern cal practices have been excellent. If he stays healthy he will be in the mix.
Fournette is one heckuva player. He needs more gas in his tank.... You tend to get winded running 50 plus yards.... what a debut..

I got a little riding on Founette at +900. Probably priced right by vegas though. Teams are going to stack the box if LSU can find some type of passing offense.

Golson isn't a bad bet at +2500. If, this a huge if, he actually takes care of the ball and has a good season the media will be all over him, due to his story. Another one is Braxton Miller at +6000. If you like to sprinkle a bit on long shots.

Iowairish....

How about James Conner at Pittsburgh as a long shot dark horse?

And BTW, it's interesting that Vegas gives Golson better odds than a number of others. Although some here laugh at the thought of Golson winning the Heisman it wasn't so long ago that many on this very board were predicting he would win it! The kid still has talent and it will be a very interesting year for us all to watch.

Hello again Alice! Nice to hear from you.

Re: "Yes, he's a hair puller"

Who is your favorite to win the Heisman and who would you pick as a dark horse? Anybody else care to make some picks?

Interesting.......will keep an eye on him.

Kevin Hogan sucks. I feel confidant we can beat Stanford just because Kevin Hogan is their QB.
Let me get this straight. Being named to all those watch lists, highly rated by respected gurus and being selected Captain of a major Div 1 program = "SUCK"?

Just askin.

Its all relative but I agree, I don't see Hogan as a Heisman candidate and don't even think he will end up being a top 3 QB performance wise in the Pac

I spent time with David Shaw at a recent Stanford booster event in San Juan Capistrano. He's very personable and has high expectations for Hogan. If he can stay healthy and catch a few breaks he could find himself in the hunt. Duo was asking about dark horses/others.... Hogan fits the bill.

The watch lists he's on tell the story...better than me.

PS Many folks here don't follow CFB and simply wear ND blinders....

Dalvin Cook is the best running back talent at FSU since Warrick Dunn, and he may finish with the best career when his eligibility is over. Golson already has the national name recognition. If he plays well and the team continues to win then his name will rise up the charts.

That doesn't mean anything when the Pac12 has Kessler, Berkovici, Adams, and Soloman. He could have a huge season for Stanford and be "ranked" behind all of those guys. Bottom line: Pac12 is loaded at the quarterback position.

I think the ND blinders argument is very valid on an ND board because you are dealing with a ton of ND fans but in a thread where no one is throwing ND player names out there is it the Best? History tells us that to be in the conversation to win the Heisman you need to be a QB with ridiculous stats and a leader of a top 15 team. Don't believe that Stanford gets out of the Pac with less then 2 losses and don't believe Hogan is going to get the stats needed to be a finalist.

If he ends up ranked behind all 5 of those dudes he is not going to be a Heisman candidate thanks for only furthering the point.

Duo asked,

imo Kevin Hogan fits the "Dark Horse" bill to a T. Perhaps you'd like to add a name or 2.....

You can have your opinion and I can disagree CGVR thats how predictions work because they are just guesses.

Darkhorse guys I could see being a factor in Heisman conversation that not on the list above are:

Jeremy Johnson QB at Auburn - Malzhan Qb's put up big numbers usually. If Auburn finishes top two in SEC East his team will be in the Top 15, potentially in the top 10 and he will be playing a lot of high profile games. Auburn is picked as a team to threaten Bama mostly because of their D growing up but I think he could be the benefactor.

Watson and Thomas from Clemson and GT- both are ACC QB's that are going to play in high profile games out of conference as well as in conference. Both play in Offenses that are numbers friendly and will give them the opportunity to accumulate stats that voters like to look at even if the stats don't tell the full story. Both also play on the teams that have the potential to win the ACC and compete for a playoff spot.

RB wise I like the kid from Arizona Nick Wilson- Zona won the Pac South last year and has an offense under Rich Rod that looks much closer the the offense he had at West Virginia then anything he ever put on the field at Michigan. Anu Solomon will take away from some of his pub potentially but he is a big time play maker that will be given the rock in both the running and passing games.

Those are a few that I think are more likely darkhorses then Hogan.

No worries.

It appears that you simply see Hogan as a "darker horse" than I do.

He's obviously in the discussion

PS I took a quick look at one of the preseason lists.

"The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award" watch list has none of your QB's on it....
