Can’t stay with his man? No bump/check at Los?

Shame. Bench next year. Team mates did it all n he does that?

Actually, I'd say his coach blew it on that last pass to Smith. We hadn't gotten home all night on a blitz. Even though that's our bread and butter, I think I would have dropped a couple of guys into coverage. I don't think we had a deep safety either, which would have helped.

I only have two issues with Gray, both correctable.

1) He needs to press the LOS and get physical
2 He gets himself off balance by reaching on WR breaks

He is a young player with intangibles that you can't coach. The biggest problem tonight was that the DL injuries were a bridge too far. It was really amazing what ND did with all of those injuries to get to the Championship game.

I would agree

Good player. He'll start and play well again next year. Got beat by a better player

Needs to improve his game
True. Just disappointed in his technique It was a huge play but we lost the game on our second n third ineffective offense series.

Yeah, that was a play was a bust. We were ready to come back and tie that game and tOSU was reeling a little bit. Maybe it's about time that Golden skipped town. I'm kidding, but damn, something went wrong there. Maybe discretion would have been the better part of valor on that one.

Sometimes you got to trust your players. It was a tough matchup. Maybe we don't leave him on an island but I was a little surprised Ohio State went deep

What an idiotic thing to say. Young kid in the national championship game lined up one-on-one with one of the best wide receivers in the nation and the quarterback has plenty of time to throw and you say he blew it. Screw you
U don’t agree that his coverage n technique was bad? Well it was. U r soft. Go to Delaware n hang out with Joe

Also how am I soft I don't play on the team. Why don't you work up the balls to walk up to him and tell him he is soft and that he blew it and Notre Dame will be national Champions if his technique was better. You idiot

Pretty sure that's what Golden/Gray was thinking. OSU was not going to throw deep. Gray lined up inside leverage anticipating an in route and was in good position. But he was in horrible position for a fade route, which I don't think Golden nor Gray were expecting. It was a gusty call for OSU and it worked. And of course the pass rush not getting to Howard didn't help.

I guess that sounds very reasonable, probably what it was. But shit, we were right on the doorstep. Just force a punt and we're going to tie this thing up!

Anyway, good game....

OSU saw the weak link and exploited it. Kid played his heart out. Look how the Ravens rallied around their TE who dropped that pass in the end zone. That is a team. Maybe he learns and comes back better next year.

Win as a team, lose as a team. Not just gray's fault. Missed opportunities and lack of them. O state just made the ones that counted the most. We made a game of it. Extremely proud of this team. Too have the injuries we have had and still almost comeback after being drilled in natty game. Seems a far stretch beyond the kelly years. Hurt, but proud.

Press is a coaches call not the player.

This, he got burned by every wr he covered all night long, and you put him on an island 15 yards off smith. Gray needs to be gone, you don't mentally recover for how bad he was last night, and terrible vs georgia, and terrible vs USC. He's playing the position as bad as you can play it. Luckily allar threw the ball right to him.

They went after him all night. He's going to be a dog next season but he was beat bad tonight. Young fella will get better from this.
nah, you don't recover from how bad he played last 2 months.

Yeah you do. He played well all year. A couple bad games against really good wrs

Put on a few pounds in the offseason and work on technique. Good player
He's too slow in and out of breaks, has poor footwork, and don't even get me started on the mental side. He bites all the time, can't play press.

Yeah he made a few plays, but he made about 1 out of every 10 because he got picked on over and over.
