BK landed 5 5 stars. Freeman has landed 0. Kelly rebuilt two D1 programs, won several titles in D2, took ND to its first championship in 2 decades, made two playoff games and was offered $100 million to leave. He also created Rees, who was offered by The Nick Saban.

Freeman was a mid DC for one year at ND and was offered a HC job at a program built by Kelly with a floor of 10 wins but somehow managed to go 8-4 and lose to Marshall.

And correct us if we are we we wrong, but he won his consecutive D2 titles in year in his 12th and 13th year.

There was a recent Twitter poll where hundreds of fans responded. 10-2 was the floor according to 95% of responders. Say what you want but the fan base overwhelmingly has high expectations. With Hartman, the OL, running backs, DB’s, talent at LB, talent at DL, talent at WR, etc., it will take poor development and poor coaching not to go 10-2. Coaching held the team back last season I expect the same now that the staff is even worse.

I’d say 10-2 or 9-3 is likely with this staff. The fan base is expecting 11-1 which essentially sets everyone up for failure with one slip. Even 10-2 means we beat one of Ohio State, Clemson, or USC and have just one slip up. Thats actually a pretty good season but won’t be viewed as such by many. That’s no easy task either with our schedule. Pour on the hate if you’re certain we are a 12-0 team. . I’ll resurrect the post in November. Hire well or lose an extra game or two. We haven’t hit a home run with assistants outside Mickens for this season. Deland and Stuckey are good recruiters. I really like them too. I’m not high on the previous jobs or stats or Golden, Washington, Parker, Rudolph. Freeman may need to pull a Kelly and fire a lot of people after this season or next. Being a perennial third best out of Ohio State and Michigan is getting old quick. Recruits are beginning to view us in that light too.
