Standing on the same side of the field seems like it could make substitutions harder.

I'd like to see a close up, but one corner of the end zone seems too close to the dugout for my comfort zone, especially since we throw to the corner.

I love baseball. I love baseball stadiums. But football should be played in football stadiums.

I couldn't agree more.

This venue was not made for football. Neither was Wrigley. It's 2015 and with all the great modern stadiums around, Jack S decides this will be 1925 all over again. Next year, just maybe, Jack can schedule a game in Cartier field on campus just like the old days. The players and staff have enough going on during a high profile game without having to deal with sideline issues. This issue has already been brought up by the media and staff earlier in the week so it is an issue to deal with. I vote for the Cubs to play a game next season in ND Stadium. They can make it work. Sometimes these suits try to get a little to clever for their own good.

I just remember the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium. Footing was awful as both teams looked like they were running on ice. One end zone seemed to not have a lot of room in the out of bounds area, just like Fenway. Sometimes ideas on paper don't work so well on the ground.

Bitch...bitch...bitch...bitch...lol

Just kidding lads! LETS GO KICK SOME BC ASS SATURDAY NIGHT. It is what it is. Jack S. is the athletic director and he calls the shots. He has a pretty good head on his shoulders and wouldn't put the IRISH players in any danger. The field looks good and playable, LETS PLAY BALL!!!

WE ARE ND!!!

I 'll bet they did not tell the Notre Dame offensive Coaches about this situation, someone could get hurt bad in that corner. However both teams will have to go that way twice, so maybe our IRISH can score all their points on the better end. If Will and Chris and Cory slow a little to adjust to field size, I think I'll change my prediction to 35 - 15.. Safe travels for all on Thanksgiving week- end.++++

FWIW, Wrigley Field has hosted more NFL games than all but about three stadiums all time. Sure, Fenway wasn't built for football, but it is special and Notre Dame has earned special!

The last game at Wrigley was ridiculous that two major programs had to play in those conditions. The Chicago Public League doesn't even play there. What the hell are these ADs trying to prove? If they really want to barnstorm back to 1925, take off the face masks and use cardboard shoulder pads. It's like the guy who jumped on a cactus. When asked why he did it, he said that it sounded like a good idea at the time. I mean, Jack S and the fans were moaning and groaning about the turf at the stadium and how things needed to be updated and then he takes the team to this? I know the suits are walking around, high fiving each other, but it's not doing the staff and players right. It's just my opinion.

What did they do, paint the infield dirt green to "look" like grass?
You can clearly still see the infield.

Hopefully they remembered to remove the pitchers mound.

They actually put in "heavy" sod. It can be removed after the game and "recycled". From what I understand it is deeper than regular sod. It will be interesting to see how it holds up.

It is raining here in Boston today. I don't know if that will help the sod stick or make it more likely to rip up in chunks. Hard to imagine temporary sod sticking well to an infield area, but who knows...

I think it is more you are seeing the outline as the grass is a different colour and variety perhaps. It is new sod only put down a couple of weeks ago during a time of year despite the warmish weather this fall that grass does not grow very fast. It will not be the same colour as the grass that has been there for the whole season / years etc. You are not seeing the dirt underneath as much as you are just seeing the fresh sod.

And to think, Jack S gave up a true home game with new turf and plenty of room fit for an elite college football program for this. All this crying about updating the stadium then he takes the program back to the "Roaring 20s". Will there be an electronic PA system working or will the stadium announcer be forced to use a giant megaphone? Let's just get out of this without any injuries and a convincing win.

While I am a big fan of the Shamrock Series, I hate games played on transformed baseball fields in general. They pulled the Yankee stadium game off largely because it was the big apple and ND subway alums seemed to take over the city, and ND got a ton of media attention, and accolades. I don't remember there being any concern about the corners of the end zone for that game, but there is always concern about how newly installed turf will hold up, as we witnessed time and again at ND a few years ago. There are so many iconic NFL fields that it does seem crazy not to play these games in those venues. The game in Dallas was a huge success and recruits had to have been impressed. I'm with IrishJack in hoping we get out with a solid win and no significant injuries, and hope we play future series games in NFL venues.

I would think they may have the field covered during rain. The fenway grounds crew is one of the best in the business and I bet the field is going to be more than adequate.

Nobody cares about college sports in Boston makes no sense to have a game there Fenway's a Trash Dump when they renovated Fenway all they did was put lipstick on a pig enjoy the obstructed views the game should be played in Gillette Instead 30 minutes From Boston and Providence Plus it is an NFL stadium with a shopping mall restaurants and Movie Theater attached to it and the Patriots Hall of Fame

I bet that's exciting! Let me guess. It consists of the John Hannah Foyer, The Belichick Wing, The Brady Wing, the IMAX theater featuring "Opponents' Practices Filmed From a Drone", the Interactive Science of Cheating Exhibit, and the All of the Other Guys Broom Closet.

Lol calm down I am a Giants Fan I Live In Boston and have been to Fenway to watch the Redsox many times the place is a shithole Gillette is a hell of a lot nicer to watch a sporting event than Fenway With Gillete you get to play in a Stadium built for football and you are right between two Major New England Cities in Boston and Providence so you can enjoy the bars restaurants and museums of both cities either by car or train Foxboro's 30 minutes away from both Boston and Providence

Robert Kraft has turned that piece of land in Foxboro into its own mini city and it is going to keep expanding

The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon is an exciting, innovative and interactive, modern museum experience for all ages. The Kraft family long considered the best way to honor the greatest Patriots of all time while simultaneously preserving Patriots history. They scored a touchdown when they opened The Hall in September of 2008.

The family’s investment in The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon accomplishes its goal to give Patriots fans a unique, technologically advanced venue to relive and celebrate great moments and great players and even recall some of the hard times that make all fans, including long-time season ticket holder Robert Kraft, appreciate the recent Super Bowl championships. The Hall will impress Patriots and football fans alike.

The Hall is a modern “museum” that takes guests through Patriots and New England football history in a cutting-edge way, utilizing amazing video and audio to tap into fans’ emotions in a manner never before seen in a sports museum.

From a 45-foot wide panoramic projection screen that plays a signature film produced to emotionally connect the fans and the region to the Patriots, to a geodesic dome housing a Snow Bowl exhibit, to massive ceiling projection screens in the Patriots United Grand Hall presented by Waters Corp., to touch screens that take you into the most memorable moments in team history, The Hall experience is one you don’t want to miss.

If that’s not enough to whet your football appetite, you will have the opportunity to learn the playbook from three-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick, go under the hood and review plays like an actual NFL official, go inside a huddle and listen to quarterback Tom Brady call plays, test your vertical jump and compare your weight to VinceWilfork’s. You’ll also block TedyBruschi, stand inside a duck boat used in the Super BowlXXXVI parade, kick a field goal, and listen to never-before told stories from past Patriots.

welcomes guests to view the team’s hall offamers on 30-foot high video pylons that use a new, must-see video technology.

The Hall’s New England Football exhibit will walk you through the sport’s regional history while highlighting all the reigning high school Super Bowl or state champions in each New England state on the exhibit’s Wall of Champions that displays each school’s football jersey as well as those of the regional Pop Warner champions.

I actually attended a Patriots v Broncos game at Fenway in the 1960s. The Pats were nomads back then, played games at BC, BU, Harvard & Fenway, and anywhere else they could find.

p.s. back then they did put stands in front of the left field wall. Wood bleachers.

The Pats Hall of Fame has many members including Hannah and will eventually a bust for (the greatest coach of all time) Belichick and the (greatest QB of all time) Brady and well as their 4 Super Bowl trophy's. You should check it out.

Hey, Pennick I am a die hard Giants fan I do root for the Patriots except for when they are playing my Giants only if that asshole Parcells had not screwed the Giants after that super bowl against the bills quitting on his team one week before Minicamp out of spite to George Young the Giants would Have Hired Belichick or Tom Coughlin instead of Ray Handley what a joke of a coach he was Bill Parcells knew he was leaving and lied to Wellington Mara that he was staying by the time he announced he was Quitting Belichick had already left for the browns and Coughlin to Boston College Belichick's Defense is the Reason the Giants Beat the 49ers and Bills two offenses at the time that were thought of as being unstoppable
Parcells is an asshole he did it to the patriots to sticking you guys with Pete Carroll
Parcells never won shit without Bill Belichick Bill was The giants D coordinator for both Giants super bowls the Pats Didn't start winning until Belichick joined Parcells staff again in New England same with the Jets Parcells can go to hell

Bill Belichick Defensive game plan from the New York Giants 20–19 upset of the Bills in Superbowl XXV is in the pro football Hall of Fame

What is the seating capacity? Seams like they are losing money not playing in a football stadium.

Just short of 38000. BC tickets are 400 bucks face value. So they raised prices to make up for capacity. Hope this us a 1 and done. I am attending but got a freebie. Go Irish!
