Missed the game day threads, got a rare opportunity to go to the game in ATL. A few things I can share....
The first, the crowd size was pitiful. I think that stadium holds around 70k, I'd put it at 40%. I dont know if that was because of the UGA/UT, GT doesnt have a strong football following or the economy but it was pitiful for Notre Dame.
ND looks physical. You don't always get to see it on TV, but some of the pops even away from the ball where there.
ND plays a ton of man coverage, they didnt seem like they were in zone much. They leverage that elite secondary to the fullest.
The linebackers are the real deal. If one of them was not punishing a ball carrier, they were chasing down the QB. We have not had a LB crew like this that I can remember. Yea, we had one great one at a time...maybe the 88 team.......we have at anytime 3 legit backers on that field.
Most shocking point, the crowd. Just don't get it. The stadium was empty.
