For your information (and that of F+), the ACC sucks this year as evidenced by their 1-7 record in bowl games thus far. Perhaps that's why Ward's numbers are so gaudy.

His coaches supported his decision. I supported it also . He didn't let me down as he didn't owe me anything.
Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't. You or I or anyone would never know as the coach would never publicly come out and say it if they didnt. So that comment meant shit. And no one cares that you supported it
There’s no way on earth that his coaches supported his decision to sit at halftime. They may say that but there’s no way they weren’t pissed & left wondering wtf is going on in the sport. We’ve kissed the players asses & effed up the greatest sport ever. They’re totally expendable in terms of supply & demand, yet we’ve kowtowed to them and created the wild Wild West. So dumb & totally lacking any foresight in the least. Players opting out at halftime? Awesome, so great for the sport. 😳

What lack of respect? Supply and demand has its own “respect” built in. We’ve given into this idea that if college football makes all this money that they should give it to their “employees” more so than any other business out there. There are plenty of businesses out there that make a lot of money that pay their employees market value based on the “supply and demand” of said employee. But in this case, we’ve bowed to the player that really has no leverage. If they don’t wanna play within the rules of college amateur status, there are plenty that will. People will still watch if some don’t like that deal & opt for not playing college football (which they won’t in most cases).
This has become a union-like fight between the workers and the owners where the workers negotiated a sweet deal w/o much power. I think the nfl needs to setup a minor league system. It’s the only way to preserve the sport. They’ve been using college as their minor league system for years. It’s time they do it on their own & leave the colleges alone. This is minor league professionalism w/o any guardrails right now. Total shitshow that has ruined the sport. Zero foresight from the powers that be. Take care of the players, but treat them like any other employee if that’s where the sport is headed.
