Evan Sharpley said last year during Spring practice that the Irish did not look Sharp (pun) and was not impressed with the team at all. He did not think the Irish would have a very good season.

*** It will be interesting to hear what he has to say this spring.

*** I would like to see Evan get a coaching assistant job. He is Irish through and through. He doesn't spend all of his time trashing the Irish like many "experts" on this board but he is not afraid to tell it like it is either !

Go Irish !!
12 wins or more in 17!!!

If true, this is a very interesting post. Given all the off field shenanigans I think that the 2016 squad lacked focus among other things.

I am scouring the internet to find the article or video he said this in. I will post it here when I find it. He was like the only who was not buying into the top ten hype for ND football last spring--he just started covering the Irish for 247 back then.

I feel that the team was split by the Kizer-Zaire QB fiasco that was handled badly by Kelly. The offense did not have leader all through the spring and summer and right into the 1st game. The decision to keep BVG was bad but then Kelly demoralized his offense and they never fully recovered.

I hope that Kelly has really had a come to Jesus moment and that these staff changes force him into deep rethinking of his role.

Just this comment, never, ever underestimate the importance and contribution senior class leadership provides. It is a culture the team and seniors grow together. Great senior class leadership has the capability of taking an average team and making them successful beyond expectations. Similarly, bad senior leadership can severely damage a team and its performance. The leadership of the past few years has been questionable. Particularly last year, as demonstrated both on and off the field. Kelly would factor into that, as leadership is also taught and nurtured through a 4 year process that ends in a team culture. What next year's senior class is like, I have no idea from this distance, but it better be outstanding to save some people's jobs.

IMHO, team leaders come naturally. Either you are or you aren't. Not really convinced the HC has much to do with a student-athlete's natural ability to be a leader on and off the field. Maybe he can nurture it a bit but mostly I feel it comes out naturally. You would never have thought that the Cubs Jason Hayward was a team leader by the horrific season he was having, but, he was. Sometimes, players just don't respond to peer leadership.

Have to agree -- Greer Martini said something recently about needing to "change the culture int he locker room" -- and it begins with the captains. He did not elaborate on that -- but have to wonder if there were issues inside the team last fall.

Our HC's leadership skills suck. He loves publicly throwing players under the bus.
Plus, he has hired some serious imbeciles.

Our HC is such a rudderless putz that he has drawn media attention on numerous occasions to his amateurism". There's part of an ongoing problem...

Not to go into this, just put me down on the side that disagrees with almost everything you are saying. You're missing my point. And Hayward was not a team leader. He was, became, immensely admired, not for his production, but his work ethic and personal disposition as he battled through a terrible year. Ross and Rizzo were the leaders on the position side and Lester and Arrieta were the leaders on the pitching side.

Cubs listened and responded to the leadership talk of Jason during the rain delay in game seven. That doesn't come from a rookie. The point is if a fan is anti-BK, then everything is his fault and his responsibility. From a kid carrying an unlicensed weapon to school work cheating to a player in a bar trying to challenge a police officer to a lack of team leaders. There comes a time when these players need to own what they do. They want to be treated as adults. Welcome to the adult world. If there is a divide in the locker room, it's their responsibility to find out why and who is causing the problems. None of us are there so none of us know. BK and staff did a bad job of coaching in 2016 but I will stop short of blaming him for everything. I think some players are trying to be team leaders but it doesn't help when an upper classman doesn't respond to anyone and anything and has negatively influenced younger players. I guess we just disagree.

You have zero credibility. Your opinions are tainted with personal hate towards a man who you have never even met though I am sure you will claim at some point that you told him off once.

My opinions are supported by facts.

He is among the worst coaches in ND history and the NCAA sanctions tilt the scale way in his favor....

You make some really good points especially about the upperclassman who was a gigantic disappointment.

Your hate for a football coach that you have never met is unnatural. Everything you comment on about the program or his coaching is pointless because it is all tainted with this unnatural hate. It's not normal. Ask the brave ladies who have benefited from "Kelly Cares" how they feel about BK. Their opinion matters because it's life and death for them. For you, it's about your ego of winning football games. Nothing you do, say, post, or scream will change anything at ND....ever. You have no influence. If the 2017 season is successful, BK will return if he wants to. If the season is not successful, there is a good chance he won't return. That's about the size of it so stop your eternal blabbering and act like a grown up.

You are so unglued that your posting of late sounds like Nancy Kerrigan after she was clubbed.
PS My opinion is well known within the powers that be too. I realize that is a tough pill for you to swallow along with your other meds.....

Your unnatural hate filled infatuation for BK must fill the void in your own pathetic life. You are an attention seeker to the highest degree. Negative attention in your world is better than no attention at all. You can play big cat here because outside of this message board, you are Captain Zero, no matter how much you say otherwise. There is no other way to explain it. The fact that you took the time to do research in a search and destroy mission explains how attention starved and hate filled you are. I can do research too and find the great work they are doing. If you are accusing BK and his foundation of fraud, say it now in public and on the record.

Thanks for bringing this charity up.
I pointed out exactly what is going on. Folks can form their own opinions.
Also, thanks for pointing out his benevolence..... bwahahahaha......
You really aren't very smart.

Save your sanctimonious crap for someone else Toby.

Plus, he brought it up. One thing I know is to never believe a word toby posts.
"Askthe brave ladies who have benefited from "Kelly Cares" how they feel about BK."
The numbers paint an interesting "story".....

Do you honestly think that's the reason? The very fact that you have to ask only confirms what people think about you.

Now go ahead and reply despite stating that you would never reply to me again.
Go cry me a river. No one is talking to you. Mr. Irrelevant.

Your shtick grew old a long time ago. Time for some new material. But then, you are not a great thinker, are you?

Interesting. If the OP's handle truly reflects his background, wouldn't he be ND class of 1974---therefore older than you since you're ND class of 1978? Looks like Brian just blew his cover----not who he claims to be. Not only a simpleton, but an inveterate liar as well.

I banned cvgr permanently. If someone sees him creep back on with another screen name, please report it and I'll ban that one too. At that point I'll just do an IP ban.
Why? I must be missing something because if insulting statements are your reason well then 80% of the posters on this thread should also be banned don't you think. ?

In my time here I can only think of maybe once I bordered on insulting to a poster. I try to educate them about the intricacies within the game etc...or offer up my very strong opinion about something but I don't go down this you aren't very smart are you theme...that appears to cone from all these people who seem to be offended by CGVR yet I'm seeing in this very thread the very same people calling people stupid and dumb...some even in such a condescending way.

Some clarification on this ..

Thank you

There are board rules and the posters here have to self-monitor by reporting offending posts. Whatever happens to the poster is up to the mod that gets the complaint.

"Rule: No personal attacks on anybody; fellow posters, BlueandGold.com and Rivals staff, Notre Dame coaches and players, etc. We encourage dialogue, different opinions, and respectful arguments. Name-calling will not be tolerated on these forums, nor will constant attacks of our business practices. BlueandGold.com reserves the right to moderate these posts as they see fit."

CGVR really pushed the limits and had just recently come back from a cornfield vacation. His post about the Kelly Foundation brought the final hammer down.

I will miss you, CGVR, won't miss the drama or combativeness of your posts with board members but appreciated your sense of humor when we traded thoughts and tunes.

Give me a break. Personal insults? That happens all the time here, especially if you don't like Kelly, you are personally insulted all the time. For 3 or 4 people here that's all they do. If that's the way some want to play - fine. Where are the moderators then though? Is it the reference to the charity? Please, don't start me on non-profits and the scandalous corruption of so called social service entities. If there is one exploding industry that is in drastic need of regulation it's non-profits and charities. So then what is the moderators beef? Perhaps a discussion with the moderators is in order? I can tell you one thing, if I owned the ND Rivals franchise/license, you ban a poster who constantly draws eyeballs and discussion on a thread, you wouldn't be working long. Your job working for ND Rivals is to bring and increase subscriptions and/or activity and content. That is what produces revenue for the entity.

Your nurse is at the door, time for a walk.

If you're ND class of 74 as your handle suggests, then you would be older than NDSMC78 who graduated in 1978. So you wouldn't be mocking his age. Of course, we all know that you're not who you claim to be, fraud. Awaiting your reply despite your repeated claims that you won't reply to me
