IIO et al, anyone have info on this kid. He reminds me of some of our last minute targets last season after the new staff team was on board. He's only played football a couple years, but has great size, athleticism, elite speed for a lineman, and a really high ceiling.

sounds like a good prospect! Is interested or committing to ND ?

I've read that PSU leads for Oweh, that he's interested in academics in addition to football, that Elston dropped by his high school the other day, but that we haven't offered a scholarship yet. I think he plays drop DE in our scheme. Guy has played one year of football, but has offers from PSU and Georgia among others.

Thanks Telx !

Definitely a drop candidate. Very athletic kid with ideal size and a frame to add weight. You turn on his film and you quickly realized he's still learning the fundamentals of football after converting from basketball. He has no idea how to use his hands. He's late coming off the ball and he attacks the center of his man far too often for a pass rusher... Yet he's so damn athletic that he still makes plays.

I think the trio of California drop ends that ND is chasing (Lamb, Calvert and Winston) are all better football players than Owen right now and it honestly isn't even close. That said, none of them have his athletic upside. Could be a heck of a tight end as well (he plays both ways) if he dedicated himself to it. He's the type of kid that needs to spend 2 years at college, learning the game and getting a lot stronger and filling out his frame... But if he takes it seriously, watch out down the road. I'd be happy or land Oweh if ND whiffed on the Cali kids or Winston. I'd love to land Winston or Calvert though. Two different players in terms of their strengths, but both can really play.

Got his offer. Elko must like his upside quite a bit (which is totally understandable). Now we wait and see.
