Driskell's article on ND as the 11th ranked team with NFL talent

https://notredame.rivals.com/news/n...tre-dame-roster-11th-best-in-college-football

Fun free article. The obvious candidates are McGlinchey, Nelson and Morgan. Tranquil was mentioned and Tillery was as well as a possible 2nd round talent. I think there really are a bunch more without being a polly. This is a talented roster. 4 years from now I bet we will have had at least 20 players drafted by the NFL from this team.
That's impressive
I stated something similar to the title thread about all he future NFL talent that was on the 2003 team.
Notre Dame is definitely a stepping stone to the NFL it would be nice if there was some big Bowl wins prior to them leaving

ND has way more NFL prospects than just those named. They have a bevy of wr's, te's and rb's that are future NFL prospects. Their QB is a future prospect as well.

Defensively they have a lot of players who could escalate to that level as they have the talent but no one showed well during last year's debacle.

A program's roster should be judged from 1 to 85 ....

The top 10% of NDs roster can compete with almost anybody in the country not OSU or Alabama.

The bottom 90% of the roster is where it gets embarrassing/ugly for a program with NDs brand/resources/popularity.

Beyond tiresome.

The talent has been there from the start to go 10-2 every season and have top-15 finishes. Brian Kelly's lack of in-game coaching ability has been what costs ND almost every year. Get better!!!!!!!

Tulsa
USF
Michigan
Florida State
Northwestern
Clemson
Stanford
Duke
Navy
Etc......

Bro,

98% of college football is in the same boat. Bama and OSU are the most powerful and consistent programs in the nation. No matter what, there is nothing that ND can do to reach that level.

ND has every opportunity to get in that A-/B+ group with Stanford, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma.

It's amazing how many players we have sent to the NFL recently which is almost on par with Alabama and others and yet we give the excuse that we can't compete with the "big boys".

Meanwhile Bill Bellicheck just won his 5th super bowl with three white receivers (two of which weren't drafted and a third was a late round pick).

Kelly has always had enough talent to win with. In fact his best trait is finding talent that is underrated. However his worst talent is he's a dopey and stubborn head coach and has cost us years and years of underachieving teams on the field.

Bill Belichick is a master at getting underrated players to bring out the best in themselves and having Tom Brady as a quarterback didn't hurt

I don't hate Tom Brady, I really don't, but I think there are many QBs who would thrive in the Belichick system. So much of it seems to be quick release/short passes that systematically move the ball down the field. The Patriots don't seem to count on Brady to slip out of the pocket and throw a 50-yard dart like Aaron Rodgers or shake off tacklers like Roethlisberger.

I don't mean to knock Brady, but I just don't see him as being as good as he is made out to be.

NoCal...don't you ever get tired of bashing BK? You're as bad as Perl as far as always finding the negative aspect to any positive post.
4-8 after 7 seasons is unacceptable and Kelly should have been fired. Many feel like I do and dont want to chance another disappointing season. Is 4-8 acceptable to you after 7 seasons?

NoCal, since you apparently haven't noticed, let me fill you in on a few things:

1. a new season is about to start and BK is our coach;
2. We have some real talent on both sides of the ball and BK is our coach;
3. Most of us have at least some measure of optimism going into this season and BK is our coach;
4. You have absolutely no input on decisions regarding who our head coach is now and should be in the future and BK is our coach;
5. If you are so negative about our program why not just go away and return if, and when, ND returns to glory (and BK is our coach);
6. Finally, BK is our coach.

People come to this board to discuss ND football and to gain some insight into how the players and the team as a whole are doing. What people don't come here for is to hear the same old naysayers spout the same old statements. Please do everyone a favor and next time you want to bash BK (unless something new comes up), just go out in your backyard, look up at the sky, and tell it to someone who might actually care about what you have to say.

As true as your post is and I do agee, but still having Tom Brady doesn't hurt

This is an open forum and you can continue to keep your head up your arse and blow smoke while the rest of us realists hope for change. If you dont want national championships root for an Ivy League team.

2 guys not mentioned that I expect, at least pray work their way, on the draft board are Daelin Hayes and Tommy Kreamer. I fully expect Josh Adams to get a shot, maybe not drafted though.

Everyone is worried about the front, but Im worried about the back end of the D. Hopefully Love is as talented as reports say.

I do root for an Ivy League team but I also root for the Irish. The difference between you and me (or at least one of them) is that I recognize when the horse is dead.

If ND is ranked as team with 11th best NFL talent and goes 4-8 last year .... going into this year unranked .... that should tell you something about the coaching

[Kneeling down and putting my hand on its chest, I then look up at you]. "Yup, that horse is still dead!"
