Not a fan of portal dudes. Journeymen. On Playstation playing NCAA Football 2012 and before, I would never recruit juco dudes to my team, even if they wanted to come, nope. I mean, was Coan an ND guy? No. He was a Flex-Seal ND guy. I don't like it.
What are you talking about, Jack Coan was a superstar for us. If I knew we were going to get another Jack Coan I would be all in favor of another portal QB. But we might not get so lucky this time.....

Superstar might be a tad strong, but yes, he played very well and our season would not have been what it was without him. Sure, I could have, and did, digest much of his story so that I could root for him just like I do any ND player, but I'd rather get behind a Minchey, or a Buchner, and watch them grow within the ND brand. I am not an ND alum, I chose ND as a fan because of what they represent (student-athlete) with class. It feels very NFL-ish, and I much prefer Cfball over NFL. If I'm beach (our USC guy) and USC went to the playoffs this year and won, it just wouldn't feel the same as winning with players I watched for years with a few underclassman sprinkled in. The victory would taste less sweet. ND will never be USC in the portal, I understand that, but we are slowly gonna inch our way there because supposedly we have to to remain relevant. My fear is we never go all in like USC and repeat the last 25yrs, close - but no cigar, and at what cost?

I am happy for the players for NIL. I am happy the players have more transfer options, coaches certainly do. I just dont want a bunch of journeymen juco dudes. I liked Justin Yoon (for example) and enjoyed watching his career - who is our punter and kicker again this year?

Ben Skowronek on the Rams is always mentioned as an ND guy, he ain't, he's Northwestern. He was a Flex-Seal guy. Let's just build the boat right with no holes to patch.

You will never build the boat right with no holes. And.... if ND stays antiquated they will be chasing Nuclear Class Cruisers with a Steam ship.

I think so. He was a capable starting QB for us. And I do not think the staff was expecting him to transfer. That would be my guess. So yeah, I think it's a gut punch.

Unlike fans, coaches live in reality. They actually have to field a team.....
I can tell you for a fact they didn't encourage him to stay. The die was cast when they met with him before he made his announcement. No need to restock the Kleenex in the football office.

You've been doing that a lot recently. Claiming to have inside info on numerous key goings-on in the ND football program, that I'm going to guess you don't have any personal or verifiable knowledge of at all.

So I'm to ignore your smug assurances that you know what's going on behind closed doors, especially when they all seem to line up tidily enough with your own personal biases, and assume, I suppose for lack of much of an alternative, that you've become another lying weirdo creeper on the internet. There's a lot of that going around these days, and there would be no reason for some random dipshit fan like yourself to be privy to sensitive inside info like that.

So I don't know myself exactly how everything went down with Drew Pyne, quite naturally, because I don't know. Why would I? But neither do you. This board is already gross enough, don't make it any grosser.....
