Because there was a string of calls there, when the game was still very much in doubt and UGA could really use a favorable call, where it was just like, is this for real? Like three or four in a row, that straight up did not look like penalties, all negating very much positive developments for ND. I am not a conspiracy theorist, and I have to fight the inclination to condescend to people who talk like that, but holy shit! Even the first down by Faison when it was pretty much done with under four minutes. But out comes the flag again! This time for some sort of obscure illegal shift, and now it's 4th down.

I got this on the brain on account of yesterday's targeting non call was just so unbelievable. Anyway, it was noteworthy to me and super noticeable.

I agree, some of those calls seemed questionable

No doubt. AZ ST got F---cked with the no targeting penalty and ND got some BS penalties that made the game closer than it should have been. F__K the SEC!

Both of the punts should have been roughing - but they missed the face mask - on Faison’s, what about being able to be in motion for one player, I am not sure his feet ever stopped - for me i think it was about even - misses on both sides

Glad that I am not the only one who thought the illegal shift was BS!
McIlroy kept saying how it was the right call, but the official in the booth disagreed with him!

That's the big conspiracy theory CFB fans are currently muling on. The evil marriage between ESPN and the SEC, and all the corrupt dealings that might come of it. Shit like this does happen. They had huge match fixing scandals in European soccer, with top, prestigious clubs incriminated and convicted. I don't even know how you throw a soccer game. I guess award constant penalty kicks.

Anyway, my spidey sense was just going off. Something didn't feel right. Too many in a row, too dubious that they were actual penalties, and every one pretty distinctively helpful to the cause for UGA. But UGA couldn't capitalize, because they sucked, and we rocked 'em!

The guys I'm with were all cursing about the illegal motion before the play was even over. They did miss the face mask but thought overall there were proper calls both ways. The hold on Greathouse was proper. The PI on Gray maybe a little ticky tacky but don't grab the jersey. Kiser was definitely interference. Caught a break with kid from Georgia interfering with the official. Don't like those kinds of calls because they have absolutely nothing to do with the play. It's a rule though. Too many pre snap penalties for ND, kind of like Texas yesterday. Great win. Next.

I am not complaining, but I’m in a text group with about 6/7 buddies and even the non Domers were saying how poor the officiating was against bot ND and ASU yesterday.

The PI was trash..

Yeah? Well, I guess it was nothing then. Still, it was a string of painful penalties all in a row, every one consequential, and harmful to ND's prospects and fortunes. All in the fourth quarter, with the game slipping away, as if the refs were doing everything they plausibly could to help a brother out. But it looks like ND just got a little too fancy with all their shifting and motioning.

I think the Gray call was legit. He had a full squeeze/hold on the shoulder of the jersey. He knows better. The Kiser PI was so bad. And you don't have to turn your head to avoid PI.
I saw your posts in the game thread. I agree with him maybe not being confident. He’s grabbing the top of the shoulder pad. Sometimes you just gotta play your best and live with the consequences.

Right. I used to coach DBs and it's such a tough position to play both physically and mentally cause when you get burnt, the whole world sees it and mocks you for it. That's why DBs need a short memory and an ability to just shrug it off and move onto the next play. What made his PI worse was that the ball wasn't catchable, if I recall.

They targeted him from the get-go. I’m no DB expert but the grabbing the top of the shoulder pads seems off to me. Use your body to get into him.

And Gray was very hansy without a flag so the officals to me seemed just bad for both teams

Which one ? Can't be the Kiser call.
What, as I’ve said, I’m not a guy that blames every loss on officiating. That Kiser call was horrible. The ball hit him in the back prior to contact with the defender, I watched it a half dozen times.

I think it probably looked different for the official who was in front of the goal post.

And for good reason. He has been burnt in the last 3 games for either a major gain or TD. I'm fairness, he really may not be trying to grab the shoulder, but that's where again being mentally tough is so important. He needs the game to slow down for him and I don't think it has yet.

That PI was attrocious. I can see in real time why they call it but they really need to adjust this rule on underthrown balls
Good point and absolutely correct. That ball was definitely under thrown. The receiver stopped to try and go back to catch it. Of course Kiser ran into him. He was covering him closely. The pass rush caused the pass to be short.

What's wrong with his argument is the Wr group never left the field so the entire offense didn't rush on the field
I honestly don't know how many guys were substituted, but I thought it was pretty ridiculous for him to complain about that because the refs allowed him to substitute and get set. They just jumped offside.
