I am shocked Wimbush does not get a series each game. I think this kid can be explosive. He obvioisly burned the redshirt vs Umass so why not give him some PT/

We're trying to win now. Why risk a series or a big turnover when you don't need to? ND was losing with under five minutes so I don't think it would have been wise to play Wimbush at any point in the game. Zaire should be back next year too.

And how oftwn do you see teams doing that anyway? The best guy plays until the game is well in hand. Same as everywhere else.

Anyone that refers to himself in the third person loses credibility.

Nice try, SuperIrish25.
It is about productivity. Talent is not relevant.
Kizer is the QB for the next 3 years as long as he is healthy.

I can see where GD93 is coming from in Florida's first title with Meyer they had packages designed for Tebow skill set you dont need full blown drives given to wimbrush but a play here and there giving the defenses another look to defend is something I too would like to see if the oppurtunity arises to involve wimbrush in the game with out comprmising the teams chances of winning

Wimbush isn't giving them another look though. Kizer gives you everything you need and can run the whole offense.

Completely agree with the OP. I know, I know, the backup QB is always the next Joe Montana on message boards. But given how explosive Wimbush is, it would benefit the offense to create some basic packages for him. His speed and arm strength are second to none.

When exactly would putting Wimbush in the game been prudent?
When we were down 10-7? When we were up 14-10? When we
were down 20-17 with five minutes left?

When would have been a good time to throw a true freshman in
the game - on the road - in a tight game, against a scrappy, tough
opponent???

if he does not play again we will find out about a knee injury that he had been fighting all year and he will get a medical redshirt

Let that sleeping dog lie.
The dog being Kizer's confidence. The whole world knows Kizer is getting it done, including Kizer. Even if he understood the QB swap I guarantee he won't like it.

Are you not seeing Kizer maturing right before our eyes? In case you did miss it, he is.

Malik better know a second position because Kizer is the real thing. He has done nothing to say otherwise. All he has done is win. Clemson turnovers cost that game but yet again Kizer had us in a spot to actually tie it.

Just wish with all our talent that we would get about 3 relatively easy wins a season. That would give the backups valuable playing time,
And also reward them for their hard work. It would help our ulcers and nerve disorders ! After night games, it would also cut down on tranquilizer , sleeping pills, and alcohol consumption !
Only kidding about those last few sentences, then again, on second thought, perhaps not !

I agree with you that since the Umass game there has not been a comfortable situation to work in any plays for Wimbush that's why I said if it is situation that doesn't compromise the team's chances of winning I am not Advocating full blown drives I'm talking 3 or 4 plays a game at most if the oppurtunity a rises

I don't see Kizer being wired that way everything I have seen and heard from him screams he will do anything that is best for the team and if Wimbush had a handful of plays called for him during the game he doesn't come off as a kid that would be upset actually the opposite I think he would be happy for Wimbush

Barring an injury, I see absolutely no need to mess with Kizer's mojo.
He's humming along nicely. If it ain't broke........

Wimbush's time will come.

Pretty sure BW doesn't play again now unless there is a catastrophe. He can still get the medical redshirt. I think the rule was for the first 4 games or something.

Go Irish!

Kizer ran 79 yards for a TD and neither of Temple's DB chasing him seemed to be gaining much ground on him. I don't know what makes a guy "explosive" but Kizer was an effective running threat all game. With Kizer accounting for nearly 450 yards of offense, I don't think the QB spot was a problem.

I'd like to see Wimbush get some playing time too, but we've had too many tight games to make that happen.

Unless Kizer were to get hurt sometime in the next couple years, I don't see Zaire or Wimbush playing qb for ND anytime soon. Really sucks for Zaire, losing your spot due to injury would be horrible, but Kizer is the real deal.

I think they should both be in the backfield. Totally screw with the d. Next year we'll run the triple option adding Malik back there. I got one play drawn up where wimbush is under center and the center snaps it back to DK between wimbush's legs. Dk drops it back to Malik and goes out deep.
