BK says head coaches have talked about this. This is the first I heard of it.......hard to imagine it would happen....or not influence polls etc. BK would like if two "local" teams played. Injuries? TV?

Interesting......

Go Irish!!!

Do like the NFL teams do. I believe the Bills and Steelers (or someone) are having joining practice for a few days. I.E. Rather than a pre season game just invite Purdue or some team you do not play that year to have a scrimmage with about 10 days left in camp.

12 regular season games, conference championship games, bowl games, and then a national championship game, some teams are already looking at a 14-15 game season.

As a fan, I always want more. But these kids already put enough time in.

Now if teams could scrimmage with other schools in the spring instead of having an squad game, that could be cool.

Indiana State.

Imagine how awesome it would be to have a small school like that come and scrimmage with ND. Could be an awesome thing to see.

a game is a game; you can't not count it; but controlled scrimmage with special rules - that might be an idea.

Controlled scrimmage - Yes! Gives you a chance to see how your younger guys look hitting someone different and the added pressure that comes with it. Plus, let's be honest you also get the added bonus of having to react to schemes/players you are not used to before it really counts.

A lot of teams already have "preseason games", like playing the directional schools and such where the score is basically 65-0 and the game is over midway through the first quarter.

Most games on opening weekend aren't worth watching. They're just warm-ups. Here's just a small sampling:

Oregon - South Dakota
Texas - North Texas
Virginia Tech - William & Mary
North Carolina - Liberty
Missouri - South Dakota St.
Arizona St. - Weber St.
Kansas St. - Stephen F. Austin
TCU - Samford

What a joke.

The Irish could schedule the Chicago Bears as their preseason game.
It would be cool to see a College team play a pro team in an exhibition. Would give the guys their toughest test. Even cooler if the Bears came to South Bend for the game.
