BK and His Post Game Presser

Last possession loss. One point loss. It's still a loss. He said this will not snowball. OK. Is that a guarantee? Why will this not snowball? Excuse the masses for getting themselves worked up over something as little as a team strength looking so bad (OL). You going to fix that, BK, and quickly? You going to turn negative punting yards into a punt return unit that actually helps with field position? That unit is ranked 124th nationally. You going to fix the KO coverage team quickly? Currently they are ranked 109th nationally? Finally, the good coach could be reminded that the Irish had the opportunity to win the game on their final possession. They didn't. Last possession loss. Why are you letting a young female reporter get under your skin after a loss? You're the HC of Notre Dame. Rockne battled with gamblers in sports. You battle young reporters with questions that you don't like.

I would imagine most fans would consider that a successful season unless those other games are not competitive. We know this team has limitations from a talent perspective upfront and in the secondary so anyone thinking 10-2 or 11-1 is just too much of an optimist.

All I can say is she isn't done with Kelly.

As for the question, it's legitimate.

Kelly's response proves it.

Coach Kelly is a fiery guy. Football is an emotional game. So he said what he said. Big deal!
He didn't push her out of the way, he didn't curse at her to me it seems like she's trying to make a name for herself over something that has been blown completely out of proportion that she created in print.

No, that was CW and his hoodie that fashionistas had a problem with. Those were the good old days.

Respectfully, how was she out of line? Was she abrasive? Was she threatening? Did she lead with a false fact? Was the tone of her voice intimidating to BK? I don't get it.

Kelly's obvious attempt to embarrass and humiliate that young Lady clearly backfired.
The incident taken by itself might be blown off as no big deal, but taken in context of a
series of such incidents, the exchange between Kelly and that young Lady just goes to reinforce Kelly's negative public image.

Not in my mind.
The proper response from you should of be gender neutral.
If reporters want to stoke the fire they should of been prepared for blow back.

I'm no Kelly apologist but she sounded like an imbecile who was just trying to get under his skin and he called her on it. No problem with it.

"I was just wondering". Does that sound like a credible reporter to you, or like someone fishing for trouble?
So that would attack credibility or professionalism. The question though is very very valid. There is a trend with ND under Kelly where they are unable to convert on late possessions when the game is within reach or they give up a late 4th quarter score and are unable to comeback on the next drive resulting in a loss. How is asking BK what makes this year different then previous years with regards to this trend out of line? If anything she wasn't ready for his response, got caught off guard and came off as a rookie. Doesn't mean she was out of line.

BK just answer what was essentially the same question in his presser today. It was asked by a long time reporter. He answered it and he said that the same basic question was asked in his post game presser and "[he] could have handled it better." Stop saying she was out of line you clowns.

It may be a valid question, but it's a question basically with only one answer. Thus I would call it a stupid question. What did she think Kelly was going to say?

You and the reporter should go to a "safe space". Stop your bitching.

Instead of hurling insults, I ask again, what exactly did she say or do that frazzled BK and you? It sounds like BK needs the safe space. This should have been the question: Coach, this is your eighth year as HC at ND. You recruited these offensive linemen. You hired the Line Coach. Why did the OL fail in such a huge way? As a follow up coach, you recruited these players and you hired the Special Teams coach. Why are two phases of the Special Teams unit ranked among the worst in the country? And as a follow up to my follow up coach, you sang the praises of Dexter pre-season. You stated that this will be a Backfield with multiple RBs involved. Where was Dexter with his fresh legs Saturday? If these questions are too aggressive and too hard to answer, then just bring in his old pal Jack Nolan to ask all the questions and no one's feelings get hurt.

I mean I think there are a number of ways to answer that question to explain why the make up of this team is different, what the coaches are trying to do to prevent these situations, and how the coaches prevent this becoming a trend. Why is it stupid to ask for BK's thoughts on these? Again, rookie way to ask it and rookie reaction by the reporter. But the overall question is legit.

Bitch, bitch, bitch. If she was somehow offended, she should find another line of work. No story here. You should apply at CNN.

It sounds like you and BK were the ones offended. You throw out idiotic middle school insults but still haven't said exactly how she offended you and your pal. I don't think you even know truth be told.

I don't care if she was offended. Headline!
Football coach and reporter have cold exchange after game!
You are the one with your panties in a bunch.

OK. I gave you multiple chances to convince me where I was going wrong with this reporter situation. Instead, you gave no reasoning on exactly what she did wrong (nor has anyone else) and injected middle school nonsense into your argument instead. I will accept that. BTW: ND football beat writer, Eric Hanson, also feels that BK could have handled the awkward question much better as a rep of ND with cameras on him all the time. Does Eric have his panties in a bunch also? FYI: a Notre Dame beat writer is someone who covers ND football all the time. Is at the pressers. Attends practices.Talks to players and coaches on and off the record. Writes about it nearly every day. What he doesn't do is sit on a message board and attack other Irish fans.

Paul Finebaum just ripped Kelly to shreds. He called him a jerk and he said he needs to be fired. I personally think the exchange between Kelly and the reporter has been way overblown. There is no snow balling effect this year. Wimbush will step up and produce a lot of wins. Not playing Dexter was a cardinal sin. The exchange with the reporter means nothing to me. Screw her.

Could care less. You need a new hobby.

That constitutes history with BK? Let's hope BK doesn't do an interview with any of the national college football analysts it may get violent.

Would the level of drama be there? Probably not but that still doesn't excuse the reality he mishandled (he said so himself) a legit football question that he still doesn't have a very good answer for. It's a bad look and like ND not capitalizing on late 4th quarter opportunities it's a trend. His post game presser are notoriously not good after losses. I guess we should be happy he didn't throw players under the bus on Saturday and just made himself look bad in front of a rookie reporter.

At this point, Kelly could save a choking reporter and would have folks not happy with the way he did the Heimlich. :)

Rookie reporter? This reporter has had gigs with USA Today, Scout and is in the second year of covering ND football.

Just not professional

She couldn't spit it out in a coherent sentence similar to the ESPN sideline reporter during the broncos vs Chargers game. It sounded like someone else fed her the question, just to be provocative, and she couldn't articulate it properly.

Yeah she has been doing reporting on the big stage for 4-5 years. In the world of reporting that is not a veteran. It wasn't her first day on the job but she is still young and lacks experience and the way she came off was definitely rookie but that doesnt make her unprofessional.
