His press conference should make for good entertainment after UNC gets smashed by 40+ points. He better have his team prepared because opposing teams and fans will be going after him. I guess he wants to prove that he can win without Brady.

Interesting. But I think BB will fail big time. You can be Xs and Os in the pros, need to be a baby sitter in college.
Pros are pros. Amateurs aren't. Just like Weis, BB probably can't adapt to this reality. It'd be different if he were younger perhaps.

Bill Walsh coming back to Stanford after the 49ers is the road map. Walsh had a top 10 team that first year (1992). In fact, he beat a loaded ND team that season.
But the falloff was steep after year 1, and Walsh was out after three seasons. Guessing we see something similar at UNC. Thankfully the Tar Heels aren't on the schedule next fall.

I think watching this unfold will be fascinating. They are going to take the NFL approach. Personnel folks up and down. He's already got his GM. Rumor has it assistant coaches won't be recruiting personnel folks will be. Certainly a non traditional approach. The board of trustees there are sold. Can't wait.
There are several programs that have been gateways to the NFL.

My assumption is that won't work recruiting 17 year olds. We'll see. I wouldn't mind UNC being a big football team for the ACC. I just don't see it

This makes no sense on so many levels. No college coaching background never recruited will he be alive to see his first full class graduate? I hope to he hires great assistants but I seeing this being a 5 win team. The portal will help just don't see him connecting with kids.

If he has such a sh1t personality, how is it he has a 20 something year old woman with him. And please don't tell me it's because he's rich, because she could get someone that's rich, much younger if she was a gold digger. There's more than one way to be a good recruiter. I think its possible that he has some Saban-like appeal where he can attract top talent based on his reputation/cache alone.
You get a pass for being a hard-ass disciplinarian militant style coach when you have multiple super bowl and/or national title rings.

I don’t know how successful he will be nor how invested he is but will he improve on a historically .500 team with the 82 ranked recruiting class? No doubt.
The choice from UNC was a no brainer..again, what is their risk? Holding on to perennial 7-5 seasons and risking their 82nd ranked class falling apart?
So academics out the window, and don't tell me HC don't care about academics because many do.

How does the player tranfering get accepted if the grades from the current semester will be sent on time to the new school allowing the new institution to evaluate their academic eligibility for admission?

This isn’t Ohio State or Georgia. There is zero risk if you are a North Carolina. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Tommy Rees interviewed twice and likely would have been the choice until Belichik agreed to take the job. Hiring Bill Belichik was a no brainer.
You correct in that regard. My reference was that they would very well be set back longer. Rees would of been an even bigger risk.
Nick Saban disagrees with you. According to Schefter, Saban’s endorsement of Tommy Rees is why North Carolina seriously considered the 32-year-old Rees.
