this is one of those games where you better ready to but on the big boy pants. don't know who'll win but we irish fans have to hope for an LSU victory so BAMA will be totally out of the playoff picture

this looks to be one of those 13-10 type games. neither defense is giving up a lot so far

Going to be a tough game all night.

One of those where 1 or 2 big plays will be the difference in the win or loss

I don't know about a tough game--Bama looks much better and can actually throw the ball.

It's nearly impossible to win titles in football with a QB who cannot throw. Having a RB as your best offensive player isn't a recipe for any type of major success in football anymore because a good defense will always shut down a good RB if the QB cannot throw.

Alabama looks to be the best team in the country; I'm pretty sure they would be favored on a neutral field against any and all teams . I know it's only 3-0 right now, but Bama has been dominant. We could beat LSU in a playoff, but I'm not sure about Alabama.

LSU contender? No no, I think they are pretenders.

Figure, if I say it it will get them going. We want LSU, that takes AL out of the CFP picture

at this point we need bama to beat them as bad as possible

Exactly, because the love affair with the SEC continues. I'm surprised Ole Miss was rated as high as they were with two losses. And how did Texas A&M, which got handled by Auburn, get to be 19?

Alabama, though, is coming into form right at the perfect time of the season.

AL looks great!!! BUT, they lost at home to a 3 loss Ole Miss team. ND should get in before them if they both end up with one loss. It may not happen, but if Clemson wins out, ND's loss is much better than Bama's.

But weren't there several freak plays in that Ole Miss loss? Sort of like how Arkansas beat Ole Miss today on that bizarre lateral play and then going for two and getting the personal foul to give them a second chance.

There was one crazy play but AL had 5 TOs. But then ND had several TOs against Clemson. It doesn't matter. If AL wins out, they are in. I just think if they both win out, ND should be selected over AL based on their respective losses. But then, I'm not on the committee. Darn it!

Not that you don't want to take on all comers, but if Alabama gets left out for one reason or another it would hurt my feeling at all,

Bama has 3 tough games remaining - @ Miss State, Auburn and Florida in the SEC championship, if they get there. I think they could lose one of those. They looked great tonight, but they match up well with LSU, which doesn't have much of a passing game. Miss State may give them a tougher game next week, especially since Bama could be due for a letdown.

Alabama smelled blood and put this game away. It just looks good and the committee sees the same thing everyone else does. 1 loss bama is in over 1 loss ND any day of the week.

Now if ND doesn't struggle with Temple and Virginia and doesn't let up on Pitt and GT then they may get more consideration. How can anybody say Bama doesn't look better than ND at this point.

Huh..? LSU (who got absolutely crushed) is toast and ND moves up! What are you talking about Iowa? We beat one-loss Navy and one-loss Temple (both top twenty)... Now USC has to take care of biz and crack the top twenty.

Stu records aside Temple is having a great season, but I do not believe they are a far comparison considering their league. Navy is legit because despite their league they played many top D1 team tough

I don't disagree. Their defense looks fantastic. They also have a strong running game.
You mean the same defense that gave up 43 pts to Miss.
LSU was just another overrated SEC team that hadnt played anyone. I just hope that ND gets Bama in the first round of the playoffs like Ohst did last year but I doubt Bama even makes the playoffs.

I gotta feeling we can count on Alabama being in the playoffs unless something crazy happeing a

I think Alabama would whip Notre Dame. Maybe not quite as bad as 2012 when the game was over at the end of the first quarter, but it would not be pleasant.

I've been in this game a long time both as a player and a coach. the number of " freak" plays this year is crazy. the Arkansas thing yesterday is just dumb luck. you can't coach to prevent such things.

Although Arkansas did not technically score on the lateral play, that makes four weeks in a row, starting with MSU-Michigan, where a bizarre play has decided the outcome.

good grief!

objectivity has left the building!

Good Grief? Really? If both teams have one loss and NDs is to an undefeated Clemson team by 2 points on the road and AL's is at home to a 3 loss Ole Miss, I believe ND's loss is a better loss. As far as schedule goes, AL beat LSU at home - If ND beats Stanford on the road, I believe that is a wash at best for Bama. USC is as talented as any other team Bama has played. Ga Tech beat FSU. TX beat OK. Temple is 7-1. Navy is 7-1. Pitt is as good as Ole Miss. Say what you want, but ND's credentials match up well with Bama. Remember, everybody got excited when Bama beat TX A&M. Of course that was before EVERYBODY beat TX A&M. I'm not saying Bama isn't a great team. They are, but they're accomplishments this year do not outshine ND IMHO.
