ND plays 2 top 10, 3 top 15. They also play 3 of the 10 "Top Games" best matchups.

Add in that 2 of the 3 they play are pre-season final 4. Should be a fun season!

who cares about preseason votes for top 25? Meaningless by end of season
Every poll is meaningless the day the next poll comes out but until then this is what we have. I mean you are on a free message board reading drivel and commenting that the poll by media that cover college football is meaningless … is that really your contribution here?

People who care about cfb this time of year
???? Do you read what you write? You guess that we cloud get in to the playoffs at 11-1 given preseason voting. Preseason voting will have no impact on whether or not we achieve playoffs. You then pivot to people caring about cfb this time of year and preseason poll is important to them. I care about cfb but a preseason poll is about as meaningful as a verbal commitment 9 mos before signing day. Who gives a fk and how will that poll play into determining the 4 playoff spots ?

The polls are meaningful in that the committee uses them to count your record vs. ranked teams.

Its all about perception. If Georgia, Bama or OSU were pre-season #13 this season...it would be major news.

Most OSU fans are more concerned about the O-line. Day has a pretty good track record of developing QBs. If the O-line doesn't develop it doesn't matter if Justin Fields, Chris Stroud or Kyle McCord is taking the snaps. I expect an improved D this year with many returning starters and better depth.
Well he doesn’t sound too enthused with his QB situation. Im expecting a so-so line and a so-so QB.

Ohio State's receiving corps is so tremendous, I fear they will make their shaky QB look like a Heisman candidate.

Then no need to come here and act like a baby.

Someone please tell me when it became a thing to rail against pre-season polls? We’re here to talk ND and football…..don’t the polls give us some discussion points?

It would seem the voters are giving ND the benefit of the doubt. Moving them up 4 slots from the '22 final poll.

Exactly - they're good for discussion. But they don't really mean anything.

I put us ahead of Clemson in mine. We crushed them towards the end of the season last year, and we've since made a big upgrade at QB. So I don't see why they should be ahead of us. But again, just conversation fodder.

We start out at 13.

We play 7 teams that got votes for the top 25. 7 teams in the top 46 teams in the country

11 and 1 could get us to the Playoff with that tough schedule depending how things shake out
No cares about any team outside of the top 25. The getting vote teams are simply unranked team’s period.

ND plays 3 ranked teams.

Outside of those 3 teams, this is not a difficult schedule.

Right now according to ESPN, ND has the 19th SOS.
It's a pretty tough schedule. And the timing makes it even tougher. We play 8 games in a row before getting a bye week. Our last 4 games in that stretch are Ohio State, @Duke, @Louisville, USC. That's a very tough 4-game stretch.

A team outside the top 25 should never be called a tough game.

Looking at a team’s record from the year before is not a great indicator of how good they will be this season.

You should first look at which players did they lose. Who is coming back???

They won 9 and 8 games last year, and both of them return their QBs. So two road games like that in between Ohio State and USC isn't an easy stretch IMO.

I like the polls. They are fun to look at preseason and after a big win. It is frustrating when they don't really seem to properly reset (especially after week 1) but so be it. Down with the "no fun police"!!!

I believe it says a lot about the status of ND football when playing a team outside the top 25 is considered tough.

Teams are ranked and unranked for a reason.

ND should not lose to any team outside of the top 25. Could games be close? Of course they could be.

There is no difference really between a team ranked 23rd and teams ranked 32nd. Depending on matchups the 32nd team may be a more difficult game

You're obsessed with the number 25 and being ranked when in reality those teams are basically the same

The top 25 is meaningful

There has to be some measuring point.

As of today, ND plays 3 teams ranked in the top 25, is that correct?

Three teams ND plays has a chance to win their conference.

Clemson
OSU
SC

This is not a tough schedule, outside of the 3 teams.

Does recruiting mean anything?????

Duke, Pitt, NC st, and Louisville, are no where near ND in recruiting.

Those teams have no business “beating” ND.

They should not beat ND but they absolutely can beat Notre Dame if they don't play well.

And just because those teams arent ranked in the "sacred " top 25 doesnt mean they wont during the season

The schedule is tough.

3 top 10 teams. Not top 25 like you put. Actually 3 top 9 teams

And then 7 teams ranked in the top 46

Very tough schedule.

It’s about where the teams finish.

Pitt, Duke, WF are average teams.
NCState??? Good, maybe???
Louisville nothing special

NC State tough at home. Pitt usually tough. Louisville with Brohm on the road. Duke on the rise and Wake's Clawson is one of the best coaches in the country. Never a cake walk.
