Another long time Michigan commitment is told no room in the inn

Wishful thinking. None of those prior stops were in the city he was raised, went to college and graduated. Harbaugh will likely be at UM a very long while and I'm willing to wager you or anyone he outlasts Meyer at OSU, Dantonio at MSU or Kelly at ND. Put your money where your mouth is, I will. I will also gladly predict Harbaugh will not break any NCAA rules along the way (though he will press some of them) and that UM will be a constant threat to be a playoff participant.

I remember people saying the same thing about Pitino at Louisville 16 years ago and Calipari at UK 9 years ago. Both guys were vagabonds, both found homes at epic programs. Hate to ruin your day, but Jim's not going anywhere.

As for the OL Raulerson, yes UM recruited him very hard and lost out to UCLA. Apparently Raulerson said he could not be guaranteed a spot in the Ross School of Business at UM.

I'll put my money where my mouth is and stay off the Michigan board. How bout you show the same courtesy, and take a 2 year hiatus, and follow up then.

He's a kick ass coach and their are plenty of 49er players beyond pissed. 3 straight NFC championship games and one Super Bowl appearance.... He took over a 6-10 49er team and immediately went 13-3 winning NFL Coach of the Year honors. (11-4-1, 12-4, 8-8). He's won major college bowls as a player and coach... He turned Stanford from a 1-11 disaster into a 12-1 Orange Bowl winner in 4 years... He established a physical brand at Stanford that continues and I envy....

I'm guessing that he will eventually turn this young man into an All American...

Jim Harbaugh flips four-star quarterback from Texas to Michigan
Zach Gentry is the first Michigan quarterback commitment under new coach Jim Harbaugh.

Gentry, a 6-6, 230-pound quarterback from Albuquerque, N.M. (Eldorado High School) switched his commitment from Texas to Michigan.

I get it, you love him.

I'm not saying he is a bad coach. He is an excellent coach. I'm saying his resume suggests he is a gypsy who moves on when it suits him. He did great things at Stanford and left when his generational talent left. The 49ers literally imploded out from under him, and he left. History doesn't judge on a single year, and neither do I. But there is a pattern there.

That being said....
Romulator is blowing smoke up your ass if he denies that his team didn't even show up for its most important game of the year. Bowl game shmowl game, OSU dusted UM.

You realize that Harbaugh has done nothing more than Kelly. An NFC championship makes him 1st place loser.
This was Bo's claim to fame while playing ND. "It doesn't matter, because we play for the Rose Bowl, not National Championships". And he was 2-7 in those games. Hell, Brian Kelly has more undefeated/untied regular seasons than Bo and Harbaugh combined.
Michigan's best coaches were Yost, Kipke and Carr. Bo won no NC. And Harbaugh may well carry on the tradition.

I don't "love him". I respect how he coaches, teaches and plays the game. It is championship style caliber. I know guys that played for him that do. I have posted plenty of times here that Harbaugh does not suffer fools lightly and could care less about titles and rank. He also has a memory like an elephant. If he thinks you are a douche he tells you the same. He doesn't care who he offends. I hope that some michigan executive locks horns with him....... I envy what he built at Stanford. Shaw has carried the torch well. They have a style/brand of football that is ND's of yesteryear.... I hope we can return to it. I wish swarbrick would provide kelly with outside consultants for training. (Parcells, Gibbs...) imo kelly can make the next step, but not on his own. He needs an epiphany.
PS. Harbaugh hates with a passion of a thousand suns having to attend luncheons and other NFL/college booster type b.s.. He feels it takes away from his true job. He makes that perfectly clear up front....and when guys force him to do things he didn't agree to he stands his ground....among other things.... Shaw calls him "a crazy tornado of a man." He is a nut and when he trolls southern cal for recruits he blazes a trail in a beat up pick up truck. He drops in on high end coaches and asks, "who do you have that can play for me?"
He is crazy like a fox...

Shaw and Harbaugh have never won it all. They are not elite coaches. They would never make it in the SEC.

Yep, 41-7 vs florida..... What is Stanford's record versus ND since kelly's arrival?
How many major bowls have they won and been in during that stretch....?

Harbaugh played QB at Palo Alto HS. When he was hired by Stanford, he had returned home. Rejected by Stanford he accepted a scholarship to Michigan. As a head coach, at Stanford, he implied that Mich. put FB players in a seperate category so that they could graduate. Often times the education they receved was only good enough for them to become good used car salesmen.

Laughs last? How'd bowl season go for ND? Did you see the final coaches poll (Harbaughs first year)? Have you seen the latest recruiting rankings? Laugh's last...I'm laughing.
You're really bringing up the way ND played OSU with 11 starters off defense and still gave them a MUCH MUCH better game than Harbaugh did at HOME. But proof is in the pudding for Harbaugh. But don't think for a moment that pulling offers at the last minute won't hurt Harbaugh's future recruiting. HS coaches and players are pretty well networked. It's ok for recruits to pull that crap, but not the other way around. Low class if you ask me. But UM is not below hiring low class coaches. Case in point Rich Rod lol!!

In looking at the offer sheet on this kid, I am wondering why or how UM offered him to begin with? It looks like he is either a project or depth chart insurance. Not knocking him as a player but rather how UM saw him fitting in to begin with? Neither a surprise nor a particularly egregious move on UM's part. This was an engagement, not a marriage....and there are always two sides involved.

"good used carsalesmen" not an easy gig to land what with all the No.Car. grads out there lookin for jobs!

Rom, I was reading intently until you mentioned Pitino and Calipari. I wouldn't want either of them to be involved in any comparison unless it was about the biggest dbags in sports. I felt dirty just typing their names. Now I will be peeking out my window on the watch for NCAA compliance officers in fear of having used their names in this post.

Just giving you some flak CGVR, I always enjoy your posts.

No worries.

On me and Harbaugh.....

It reminds me of what Al Bundy said to Steve something like, "Even if I was gay I'd like to think I could do better than you."

PS on being a gypsy... kelly jumped from cmu after 3 years, jumped from cinci after 3 years and tried to jump from ND after 3 years....

Just having some fun here....

WHOA! BACK OFF!!!!

That's different, he's OUR coach. Guests are not entitled to the benefit of the hypocritical double standard.

Jeeze CGVR, it's like you just found this site...... we are also allowed to ignore our own disciplinary issues, prior inconsistent posts, academic violations, anything involving Kim Dunbar and beat Erig Lorig jokes into the ground. I have a list somewhere ......

Somebody bring Remus up to speed so he can explain it to his brother.

Mea culpa....

brian kelly is the ND modern version of Knute Rockne and Frank Leahy without the titles.

that doesn't count in his eyes. it doesn't fit in his argument. only harbaughs accomplishments do.

If it's such a wonderful accomplishment. Please recite some fond memories of either....

haha. I know what you mean but the fact is that both are guys who were well-traveled before they took their current jobs; both are guys who people said would never stay for more than a few years; both have stayed for a long, long time; and both are Hall of Fame coaches. You don't have to like Pitino or Calipari but they get damn good results.

At least twice in one recruiting cycle will hurt the skunkbears in the future. Obviously a commitment from Mich is worthless and when mr. khakipants jumps for the NFL in a couple of years then your screwed as a recruit.

hmmm. Let's update the Committed list since the Swenson and Weaver decommitments became public: Spaneliis, Uche, Mbem-Bosse, Dwomfour and now McDoom + Hudson with many huge targets still looming. Probably time to try a new tack.

hmmm decommited is the new term for "cut" or better yet: betrayed

btw: the only name on your list so far that I would want is Peters, and he would not play for 2-3 years.

It's not funny but it is effective. Eddie McDoom is a UM silent commit which means probably no room at the Inn for Nate Johnson either. You guys should be glad.
"You guys" should be glad ?

Troll or scUM ?

You're missing the point Rom. The problem is in the early part of the recruiting cycle next year, not now. If you are a non-five star recruit being wooed by Harbaugh next summer, how anxious are you going to be to commit to Michigan early, when every other coach is reminding you that three guys like you last year got their offers pulled by Harbaugh within 10 days of NSD? Like I said yesterday, maybe he goes with the Poodle model of hitting the middle of January with 5 commitments on board, and signing a bunch of studs right before, or on, signing day. He may have to do that.

Maybe you need to find a new place to post like over on the skunkbears board with the rest of the morons. Not one of the guys you mentioned was on the Irish radar.

truth be told, UM did not close the talent gap vs tOSU and probably lost even more ground. Then consider that tOSU had more talent to start AND a better head coach; they have little reason to pound their chests!

vs MSU it is a bit closer.

PS: Jordan Elliott did not wait to be 'cut', he cut himself! So landing Gary would not be as major a coup as if a pair of DTs were gathered.

I seem to be arguing with a Computer Programmer who has never played team sports. Let me clear something up as you seem to have difficulty grasping simple concepts: you have to be on the team to be cut. If you're not on the team, you can't be cut. See, it's not that hard. Still waiting on the rules Harbaugh broke....

I never said they were on the Irish radar. I used this week's commits as a demonstration that Harbaugh is having no trouble recruiting and that there is no chilling effect from revoking contingent offers. It's simply a desperate myth advanced by those who wish to see him fail...which ain't happening. Oh, might want to add TE Nick Eubanks to the list. Clearly these recruits hate Jim. lol

you may be right twalsh, time will tell. But Harbaugh just added a 4* TE commit who UM only recently started recruiting. Until proven otherwise, there is just no proof to support the theory. But maybe next cycle it will be different. Nobody knows.

Players trying to make a team are "cut" all the time, even at the High School level. At no time were those try-out players likely considered to be on the team. They were cut before the final roster is established. Harbaugh may or may not have done a disreputable action, but arguing the semantics of using the word "cut" is certainly meaningless, and likely just as silly.

It's like talking to a f-cking rock.... stop wasting your time guys.

You can't blame him for posting here rather than the Michigan message board. If the dolts that post over there are as dumb as he is, he has to come here for intelligent football talk.

no, I only post on this ND board because at any point in time there are numerous threads about Michigan. I haven't started a single one of them. I'm only here to keep it real and set the record straight. If you don't post about UM, I will have no reason to reply - but you just can't seem to help yourself. lol. To date, not one of you can dispute any factual claim I've made. Not one. Instead you just say things like "scUM" or "Hardballs" or "31-0" . Clearly you have no honest retort, so you resort to insults. Well, for every "31-0" I have multiple "38-0's" and, most importantly a "24-17-1" that ND will not overcome in any of our lifetimes.

By our standards, Michigan has emerged from a sub-par period of time that began in 2008. Yet we still have three (3) January 1st or better bowl WINS including a BCS game since '08. ND has ZERO January 1st or better bowl wins over the same period of time. And, finally, your boy Brian Kelly is a paltry 2-3 against us. You know and I know that it's not going to get better any time soon with Harbaugh at the helm. So say what you want but you can expect I will respond with FACTS and within the rules of the board.

What is wrong with you? What sort of person goes to another team's board and posts crap like this? Why the need to "set the record straight"? That's the same sort of crap we have heard from the Florida St. fan who chases the deranged lunatic all over the cyber universe. Really pathetic
Anyone who has to go to another team's board to "set the record straight" is lacking in self esteem. Guess why I don't go over to the Michigan board and correct misstatements about ND? Because I frankly don't care what Michigan fans say about ND. .
