All Peices Came Together Yesterday

Boy it will be nice if Darnold plays like the first half Darnold instead of the 2nd half Darnold from last night. I think ND can run on USC and we need to tackle the USC receivers like we have all year.

Besides the Navy loss all of the teams That needed to win yesterday did. Notre Dame controls their own destiny once again. What a crazy turn around in one year.
Let's relax on the turnaround stuff. I'm as big an ND fan as the next guy but all this turnaround talk seems a bit premature. If they go out and beat USC and NC State these next two weeks then I'll be a believer. What happens if they lose these next two games and are 5-3?? The talk around here will go from what a turnaround season to fire Kelly real quick.

ND's toughest stretch of games kicks off Sat night. Lets see what happens.

Lets hold down the enthusiasm please. ND beating the likes of Temple, BC, Mich St, Miami OH, and NC is nothing to brag about. Lets see how ND does against USC, NC ST, and Miami before we go anointing ND into the playoffs. I don't trust bk and knowing his track record ND prob will lose 1 or 2 of these. Not that ND is an inferior team its just that bk can't win the big games. See Georgia for details. Could have easily won the game but didn't. That was the game Dexter got Zero touches. Great coaching job.

You mean the only coach in college football to take two different Universities to an undefeated regular season? (Cindy & ND)

No. We were so bad it would be a turnaround season if we lose out.

I know. There is middle ground between improvement and fielding a playoff team.

I understand that but your original post was hinting towards a playoff berth with the comment about ND controlling their own destiny. Yes I love seeing the improvement on the defensive side of the ball and the mistakes are way down but all this chatter of a playoff run needs to cool off until after these next two weeks. Beat USC and NC State then I'll buy into it. Lose both and people around here will be on the fire Kelly bandwagon big time.

I still believe ND is better than every team left on their schedule and will win out. However, the "any given Saturday" can come into play which would effectively eliminate them from the playoffs. If the Irish do not make the playoffs this year then I hope they get matched up in the best bowl playing the best team possible (yes, including Alabama) because I believe in this team's toughness and grit to win against any team in CFB.

With Penn State, TCU, Georgia and Bama all undefeated, there is no way that we control our own destiny. Who thinks the committee is picking an 11-1 ND over a 12-1 Georgia who beat ND head to head at ND? Not going to happen. So the four teams above have the ability to stay ahead of us no matter what we do. Ergo, we do not control our own destiny.

Still a lot of football left to be played. We need to wait and see how things shake out. I agree with twalsh that ND doesn't control it's own destiny. As the Great Lou Holtz once said, "we may not be in the drivers seat, but at least we are in the car!"

I'll agree that an 11-1 ND is equally [un]likely as four undefeateds, though notby much
