Exactly as the title says.

Prime time...#3 vs probably the #5

All eyes will be tuning in. Heisman voters will be watching. They will get to meet Josh Adams and #33 trucking.

His performance with the world watching will win him the Heisman or not.

This is great stuff through. Why you come to Notre Dame for moments like this. On the road, prime time, lots at stake.

It doesn't get any better than this

Bakerfield is probably the leader now. But, Josh can do his thing with the nation watching and who knows. I heard one radio analyst say that Josh doesn't return kicks or catch passes out of the backfield so that might limit his chances. I do know he can block and run the hell out of the ball.

With Mayfield finally having to go up vs a DECENT defense in TCU this could be the chance for Adams to make up significant ground. If Oklahoma losses to TCU this weekend with Mayfield struggling in the loss and Adams explodes for another 150+ and a couple TD's in a huge win for ND I believe he will make this a race. Go Irish!!!

Josh could make it a close race with a great performance Saturday nite, but I think he's missed too much time this year for various reasons.

He could be a 2,000 yard rusher if he played 4 quarters a game.

He could -- but, was there really a need to play him in the 4th quarter of many games (other than to pad stats)? Also -- if he does play and gets hurt badly -- how many from this board you think would be asking for Kelly's scalp about playing him when he was not needed???

He is healthy (for the most part) at this stage of the season -- now is the time to let it all hang out.

I am confused about what happened last game. We were told that he was hurt but then Kelly said that had a tough week (exams) and was not mentally prepared. Which one is it?

BK never said Adams was hurt

He said Adams did not feel right, and apparently when a head coach gets a vague comment like that, he has to tell his medical team. They decided to not play him

There are QB’s with far better stats and carry a heavier burden. And the ND votes might be split with Adams.
Elko and Balis deserve to share the Heisman.

Adams might not even be the highest voted RB with Love and Barkley also there (even though Barkley is falling off the radar with two meh performances in primetime). See the RB's splitting votes from people who don't want to just give the award to a QB and in the end Mayfield getting the award unless OU lays some eggs.

Look at Adam's numbers versus UGA, MSU and Wake. He isn't winning the Heisman. And who cares that much anyway? It would be nice, but the Heisman doesn't mean much anymore.

Whether he wins or not we'll see...

But you can bet that trophy still means a whole lot to the players. It's a good thing for them and the university they're attending. Their team as well. If he won it don't think for a second the team in particular the O Line wouldn't take great pride in that.
The o line would be damn proud of that.

Is the Heisman the ultimate goal? No. But it would be great for the team if they happened to pick that up along the way to a playoff spot.

Louisville doesn't seem to be benefiting at all from having the current Heisman winner.

I rarely hear players talk about it. It's old guy award. The ESPN College Award show is as big of a deal now.

No I agree. He didn't need to play in most of those games in the final quarter.
It's a Team game. He is unselfish enough to know that the team's needs outweigh the need for personal achievements.

For the Heisman being an old guy award, there sure are a lot of fans making the ND Heisman display a destination spot while on campus. I'm waiting for the day that one of these babies pop up on ebay.

UGA stuffed us, no doubt. However, MSU was a blowout and he didn't play in the fourth quarter. He only played one quarter vs. Wake Forest. Didn't play at all vs. UNC. Other games were much the same - Irish were winning handily so no need for him to continue playing.

This all figures into the voting. He doesn't have a lot of carries - but why? Because he sat for long durations in blowout wins. When he did play, what did he do? That is the question voters need to ask themselves. The answer is obvious.

Wow OK.
So you want to compare someone who already won it and his team is having a terrible year to Adams or anyone else who hasn't yet won...season going great...and motivation two fold of a national championship and a Heisman trophy.

There is no comparison.

The players, fans, student body all enjoy the moment of Heisman consideration and it's compounded when you're in playoff title contention as well. It's a good thing.

No no..its a great thing.

"Didn't play at all vs. UNC"

Are you saying Adams did not play at all vs UNC?

It's the big ESPN moment for Adams. It's the only game sport center will have to show full highlights of. Adams needs a huge game to say "you cannot deny me". Anything average or below and I don't see Heisman in his future.

How do you figure it is the "only game Sportscenter will have to show full highlights"?

I agree with the others who say he hasn’t played enough to win it. And that’s a good thing for ND. He was held out and thus avoided a lot of unnecessary hits. Blessing in disguise if you’re an Irish fan. He’ll play great on Saturday. 2 TD’s.

I’m pretty sure Mayfield and Love are running away with the top two spots right now.

Do you watch sports center? The ND game highlights are always short and at least 60% of positive plays for opposing teams. Adams at best gets a quick blurb. Sports center didnt even show the te tip toe catch against the sideline a couple games ago. Being that this is an abc headlining game, it will get much more publicity on ESPN than NDs home games televised on NBC. Just the way it works. Adams will have a real chance to become a real hiesman contender tonight. A big game puts him in further in the conversation and will start a build to the love vs Adams ND Stanford game.

Very difficult to win the Heisman, not only great play goes into the decision, but so do other factors,
Even a little “ Politics “ may be involved in the voting. It is an interesting debate and we still have a few games left to play.
All we can do is wait and see how it plays out?
Notre Dame must just keep winning, that is the most important thing. That is the “ Bread and Butter “ !
If Adams wins the Heisman that will be a great and sweet “Dessert “ ?

The Heisman thing has really become all about PR. They build players up and knock them back down as soon as one little thing goes against them.

I find it interesting that there was a lot of criticism of our last winner, Tim Brown, because his stats were not great. (Interesting, though, he had a long, standout career in the NFL) I think that may have affected Rocket's chances a few years later.

So, I for one am happy to see ND crank up the PR for Adams.

Rocket lost because of one game he never even played in.
Ty Detmer beating Miami is what won him that Heisman.
