ACC extends invitations to SMU, Cal, & Stanford

It’s not the 90s anymore, Steve Emtman is out of eligibility, Washington is not winning any championships … btw, Stanford has the best overall athletic department in the country. You bought the Big 10 marketing while they are giving you Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana and Northwestern. ACC stacks up just fine with Big 10 in every sport except hockey.

But the ACC is much better in men's lacrosse.

Gonna become the Ivy league of the South

Possibly.

Stanford has suffered through several bad years. 14-28 the past four seasons. The Trees are close to UCLA in all time winning percentage, .575 to .579, but far behind Washington at .616.
Check major Major bowl appearances Since 2010. UCLA has 0, Stanford with 3 Rose Bowls, Fiesta and Orange.

Stanford

Stanford stinks! Had Harbaugh/Luck and Shaw did ok for a few years with McCaffrey then flopped. UCLA with Chip Kelly is on the rise, Oregon has Nike money and Lanning is a good coach, Washington's DeBoer is one of the best young coaches. Those 3 schools easily surpass Stanford, Cal, and SMU.

6 acc games would still mean 4-5 games vs some of the worst teams in the P4 every single year to go along with the other 4 bottom feeder teams we schedule every year outside of the ACC.

NDs football schedule has been embarrassing since they joined the ACC. I can't believe fans are happy/content with it all let alone cheering the addition of SMU, Cal, and Stanford ... smh

It's almost like ND fans are living in a silo where only ND exists. Does nobody else see what the SEC and BIG are putting together and how much of a competitive disadvantage that puts Notre Dame in at football (to go along with the other myriad of disadvantages and handicaps ND likes to self inflict itself with)?
Looking at what has played out so far, ND will play a murderer's row set of games in October with four weeks straight of the Ohio State, Duke (away), Louisville (away) and USC. Watching Louisville last night, they have some very fast and athletic skill players that can cause big problems. In my mind, as of now, this slate compares very well to anything the SEC or BIG can produce.

LOL … 3 Rose Bowls and Fiesta and Orange = “ok”

Is that a Simpsons joke @Good4Bad ?

Washington may have a national title in Oregon has been very competitive. Stanford can win the Rose Bowl at its peak. But the long term difference is small.

But otherwise the money and elitism outside of football of the bay area schools is very large. Calford could eschew all the ACC money and pay out of their endowment while still making a profit.

Take the money out of football and ND becomes Division 3 North Indiana Catholic.

And Cal's athletic department is in the dumps. They would have to drop a mess of sports.

Notre Dame's endowment is about 100 years of ACC payouts.

Cal decided to rennovate the stadium in the most expensive manner they could think of.

Cal was told by the PAC that they could count on getting at minimum $35-40 million per year.

CAL looking very competent tonight. Stanford looking like they are considering dropping down to club level football.
