Every year there is an intreging player who the IRISH would love to have

and who teases ND all year and then wanders off into space never to be heard

of again in South Bend until the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

This year there is a Lad who plays safety that would make us all drool and who

plans to attend Junior Day, but has not been offered yet.

If you get a chance to look at IISAIAH SIMMONS 6-4//205 highlights you will see a

great athlete who can fly.----can be a ball hawk or a great tackling guy who no one can get past.

He also has the frame to play at 6-4/225 and be all over the field.

Unfortunately we probably won't see him in blue & gold . BUT---if he shows up on Junior Day

and meets TODD LYGHT we may have a chance.

His big brother plays for Kansas, but LYGHT may just be the guy to steal him away.

As always thank you for the info. I always look foward to your posts. I won't hold my breath on this one.

DAG 1------no I wouldn't hold my breath on Mr SIMMONS---but

there always has to be one recruit who dangles his talent just out of our reach.

MARSHALl the RB who went to Georgia

AGHOLAR who cost Coach ALFORD many sleepless nights in TAMPA hotels.

ETC. ETC--------this kid looks like a top ten NFL guy already--

Coach LYGHT may be just the Lad to make him IRISH.

6-4/225 quick, fast as lightning, ball hawk who can tackle----OH YEAH !!!!

Yes DAG !---LORENZO was one, there are probably 200 if

we could remember them all. BOD is good at that kinda stuff, bet

he can name 50 off hand.

I'm confused ..... I thought ND was going D2 after Coach Alford left . What is with all these recruits arranging visits to South Bend ? Are they just humoring us ?

Please advise 35 . I'm confused !!

Continually, I feel your confusion. Funny how quickly the sky is falling crescendo from the mass exodus of asst coaches quickly morphed into euphoria over their replacements. Have to like the list of planned attendees, and just hope we don't see any drop outs like so often happens at these events. Hope tomorrow's press conference formally introduces all of our new hires and they hit the recruiting road hard. Would like you to secure commitments from two of the four DEs that are attending, and hope 35 will step up and deliver on Simmons. Game on?

Confusion may rein but the sky never falls over OUR LADY's LAKES.

The same feeling occured when KNUTE's plane went down, but the IRISH are a tough breed

and bow-coo years later we are still up on top where the cream always rises to.

As all of us old goats get feeble and finally pass from the scene you young whipper-snappers

take over and make great things happen.

The high schools are full of bright, eager young lads and our new exciting coachs will find them

and get our share---so always look for the silver lining and try to find the sunny side of life----

(stolen from a Rodgers and Hart Song) ( Or was it JEROME KERN????)

SIMMONS is going to be a star, I hope he joins the LYGHT BRIGADE-----USC to the left of them,

STANFORD to the right----onward the LYGHT BRIGADE.

GO IRISH--SHAKE DOWN THAT THUNDER LADS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting players to visit for big events isn't a problem area for ND. I think there is a bit of a distortion of the rhetoric coming out of the last few weeks to.

Sal, I don't recall last year's junior day being this well pre planned, but I may be mistaken. These are unofficial visits and therefore at the expense of the recruits, and I believe I read that only one committed attendee lives more than a ten hour drive from campus. Of necessity, the focus then is on the Midwest and this years planned attendees seem an impressive group, perhaps more so because of the DE Haul.
I don't recall whether we had many last minute cancellations to last years junior day, but we sure did for the awards banquet.

Last year the bigger events for ND were Irish Invasion during the season and the Banquet which fizzled. For junior day I know it was a bigger focus on midwest players but guys like Cornell, Hillard, Ofodile and Peat went elsewhere. I like the list for Junior day so far and hope that we get some positive momentum going. I imagine with a smaller class this year we are going to see a more selective approach to some position groups.

Tex,

I just spoke w ski and were a tad concerned that 35 may be ducking the King affair completely .

We need that DE and the coaches are counting on 35 to score the committment . There comes a responsibility w greatness - hopefully 35 can shoulder the burden that comes with stardom
