3 things that will make ND a consistent top 10 team and playoff contender.

You ready for this, they're simple things....seemingly anyways.

1.get a true and proven College DC, pay him the money, many would like the job, prestige and potential career enhancements post ND, but they want to be paid as such.

2. I really like coach Timex, I mean, umm, Kelly but he has to figure out when it's okay to use timeouts, run the clock, etc.. it is an abject failure at this piint, for FIVE YEARS people, we all know what the definition of insanity is right?

3rd and most important IMO, learn how to score TDs in the DAMN redzone, it's an absolute disgrace. This team runs up and down the field weekly and kick FGs. That doesn't happen with UM, Saban, Dabo, Fisher, etc.. they finish the job. Since the 2012 title run this team couldn't score on their honeymoon inside the 20. BK goes all koo koo on the boys and starts running an entirely different offense. Please meet with another great coach in the off season and pick his brain.

Let me be clear, I like BK and what he has done and is doing, but this team is capable of far more if he can get these area remedied soon.

Spot on about the red zone.

Last night fake handoff naked boot was the best play he called all year in the red zone. I wonder if deep down he only wants pretty touchdowns. They all count as six.

I actually think the getting-the-plays in thing was way way better this year. Credit Sanford as Kelly says he is in charge of QB communication (helluva a job with a Freshman QB!). Clock management, I don't fault Kelly there -- we were never out of a game! I'm not schooled on the two points kick it stuff... But I was thinking if we kicked it earlier, we could have gone for two at the end there and at least had a tie...

Agree on the DC. Not a fan of VDG's system. (Does he recruit?)

Also agree on the Redzone but after watching the game again, if our two seniors Nick Martin and Amir do their jobs we have 14 points more! End of story.

Love the way our program is going. In hindsight this was the year to run the table but when you lose your QB and are forced to finish the year with your 4th RB... c'mon...

But what a backup QB and a 4th RB!!!!!

What is this incorrect timeout call at the end of the game?

On fourth and 1, Josh Adams ran for a first down to the 3 yard line with 35 seconds left on the clock. Kelly called a timeout to talk about their next play(s).

I really don't see the problem (not trying to be a dick). Is he supposed to run 30 seconds off the clock and hope they score on one play? Should they line up and burn some clock to see if Stanford calls the timeout?

With all this team's issues in the red zone, it doesn't seem like a smart move to burn clock there.

The most important change must be to recognize the importance of and developing an effective power package for short yardage situations. It is absolutely necessary in 3rd and short and red zone situations. It is absurd to talk about a dominant run game if you can not dominate those critical situations. Running you legs off between the 20s makes for great stats but does not win games. Stats are looses balm.

Right on 67. If ND had a strong running game inside the 20 and on 3rd and short, we would be talking about a number one ranked team right now. The defensive issues wouldn't be so obvious. Kelly MUST get that part of the offense fixed. Score two touchdowns instead of three field goals inside the 20, and ND wins easily Saturday night.
