Notre Dame football will host SMU in 2026, replacing Virginia

This time, the Mustangs won’t be fresh off the death penalty.

Virginia is playing two FCS teams but they’re playing West Virginia at a neutral site.

2026 FSU has Alabama, Florida, and Notre Dame OOC. Yikes.

Props to Clemson for playing South Carolina every year in addition to Notre Dame, LSU, or Georgia pretty much every year.

ND now has games against Texas schools in 2026, 2028 and 2029. Should help our recruiting in a state known for producing football talent.

Well SMU might even make the playoff this year and get a 1st round bye. So as of today they would count as a pretty good opponent.
