Cincinnati is not a top 5 team

I’ve watched them play several times, and certainly respect that they are a really good football team. However, let’s temper the enthusiasm a little. There best win is USF and then BC or SMU. Is that really enough to say they are 4 or 5. Would you really bet them over OSU, Clemson, Florida, A&M? I would not. They would need to play perfect and win the turnover battle significantly to beat any of the top 7-8 teams. I think BYU beats them also.

Basketball MBB, WBB Attendance Policy Announced

No general public will be allowed at basketball games to start the year. Same goes with hockey. Here's the release:

The University of Notre Dame, in accordance with campus health and safety protocols and with the guidance of local health officials, will limit attendance at the beginning of the winter seasons to only guests of student-athletes and coaches of competing teams at this year’s men’s and women’s basketball and hockey games.

Those in attendance will be required to adhere to campus policies to protect the local community (i.e. wearing a mask, practicing physical distancing, etc.).

As the seasons progress, the University, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten Conference will continue to monitor the conditions and evaluate the possibility of welcoming additional audiences. If Notre Dame decides to extend invitations beyond the campus community, season ticket members will receive priority to purchase single game tickets.

For additional questions regarding becoming a season ticket member, please contact the Murnane Family Ticket Office at 574-631-7356 or email at tickets@nd.edu.

Football ND O-Line Up For Joe Moore Award

Notre Dame Football’s offensive line unit has earned a selection to the 2020 Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll, a distinction that annually honors the “toughest, most physical offensive line in the country.”

This marks the second-consecutive season in which the Irish have been named to the midseason honor roll. Notre Dame won the award in 2017.

Notre Dame’s starting offensive line boasts 147-career starts between the five veterans (Liam Eichenberg, Aaron Banks, Jarrett Patterson, Tommy Kraemer and Robert Hainsey), the fifth-most starts among a starting offensive line nationally, and third-most in the FBS. For their performances, four of Notre Dame’s five starting lineman have been named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week this season. However, Patterson (foot) will be out the remainder of the season while Kraemer underwent a recent appendectomy, which will force the Irish to rely on their depth.

Behind its stellar offensive line, Notre Dame is one of three Power 5 teams to post three performances of 36:15 or more possession time this season. No other FBS teams have produced more than three games this season with at least 36:15 in possession time (Wisconsin, Louisville, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina and Liberty have also marked three such performances). The Irish held control of the ball for 40:59 minutes of possession time at Pitt, the second-most by an ACC team in a single game this season. Notre Dame has won the time of possession battle in seven of eight games.

The Irish lead the ACC in fewest sacks allowed (13) and are also tied for second in the ACC in rushing offense (233.5 yards per game) with a 208-yard rushing performance vs. Clemson and 274 yards at Boston College.

The award’s voting committee is composed of college football experts, especially those who played or coached the offensive line position, including all of the current offensive line coaches at the Division I/FBS level, as well as former players, coaches and colleagues of Coach Moore and select media.

The only major college football award that honors a group in lieu on an individual, the award is named for Joe Moore, a famed offensive line coach who spent nine seasons in that role for Notre Dame, coaching student-athletes such as Aaron Taylor, founder of the Joe Moore Award, Andy Heck, now offensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Tim Ruddy, Pro Bowl center for the Miami Dolphins in the Dan Marino era.

Recruiting New FutureCast Pick for Notre Dame

After receiving his offer from Notre Dame tonight, I have put in a FutureCast pick for Jojo Johnson to end up committing and signing with the Irish.

Notre Dame cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens had a prior relationship with Johnson at Cincinnati where Johnson was formerly committed to, and that relationship has continued. I expect the Irish to land Johnson before the end of the month and make him the fifth defensive back in the class.

ND students that passed away recently.....

The two female students that were recently killed on Ironwood road .....was there any further information/details released on what happened? Alcohol involved at all? or just a group of kids crossing a dark road at the wrong time and driver didn't see them? I happened to be down at the Notre Dame bookstore on Saturday afternoon and saw an issue of the most recent Observer newspaper with their pictures on the front. Very sad situation...I feel horrible for their families. From the article ....it seemed they were very well-liked and made lots of friends easily.
Just wondered if anyone knew anymore info regarding the incident. Thanks

Recruiting JoJo Johnson speaks on his Notre Dame offer

Iowa, Michigan State and Purdue had made Johnson a priority, but this offer has dramatically changed the complexion of his recruitment, as he explains in the article below:

Basketball MBB Schedule Must-Haves, 'Bubbles' And Steals

Mike Brey's talking like he wants Notre Dame to be an NCAA tournament team and setting that as the expectation. To get there, ND needs a resume. I outlined the games that are musts, games that are steals and toss-ups that will determine how strong that resume is:
