Another successful week for the 9-0 ND football team was completed with the 31-17 victory at No. 19 North Carolina. Everyone in the two deep was available. Can the actual 11-game regular season through Dec. 12 be finished?

ND had no positive test results again through Monday. Over the last three weeks, 52 out of 179 games scheduled were cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19 outbreaks, including Northwestern at Minnesota this weekend. Since late August, the total number of postponement or cancelations have been 103.

I don’t remember seeing him.

Did I miss it? I hope all is well with him.

ND is 9-0 in the conference and is automatically in the ACC championship game? So Clemson doesn’t have an advantage of having a bye week before the ACC championship game?

. . . if both win on Saturday. ND would have clinched their spot in title game with win over Wake and Clemson's game with Florida State has already been cancelled (according to the schedule on Clemson's Rivals page).

If the ACC wants the best possible chance to have a legit (few key players out for Covid) Championship game, they should be pro-active and keep both teams in their own "Bubble" for two weeks until the title game.

The virus is only going to get worse for the foreseeable future. Look at what's happening in the NFL and all across college football. It makes no sense to play meaningless games at this point, especially these two teams. The only team that would have a complaint is Miami (of course they now don't have to play Wake!). But who really thinks FSU would beat Clemson (or even show up for the game)? Virginia Tech has a better chance of an upset of Clemson. If that happens, play out the schedule -- otherwise, it make no sense.

BOTTOM LINE, IF ACC ALLOWS CLEMSON vs FSU GAME TO BE CANCELLED then ND should not have to make the trip to Wake (and take the risk) .

With school done are they practicing in the mornings? Did the team move back to the Morris In ?

Is the NCAA maximum of 20 hours per week in effect when school is not in session?

That's par for the course. Derek Mason was a defensive coach, so usually the successor — such as Clark Lea — unofficially has to be the antithesis of that.

I live in Seattle and can't tell you how many Washington Husky fans have regurgitated this BS to me over the years.

2020 - Notre Dame joins the ACC for one season:

- Undefeated in the ACC with an 8-0 record and one game left.
- Clinches the first place record in the ACC regular season.
- Ends Clemson's 36-game regular season winning streak.
- Ends Clemson's 28-game conference winning streak.
- Clinches spot in the ACC Championship Game.

I just saw the latest projection that shows the Irish playing in the Sugar Bowl versus Alabama, with Clemson and Ohio State duking it out in the Rose Bowl. Now my starting point is that I want to be in the playoffs, so that is a given answer to the "you just need to be happy you are one of the four selected" and the "it doesn't matter - you have to beat two of the best teams in the country to win it all" arguments, so don't waste electrons on making those arguments.

I thought that the #1 seed played the #4 seed and #2 player #3. Alabama, as #1 would slot into the Sugar Bowl, which should put #2 Notre Dame into the Rose Bowl. Can you imagine the Irish playing in the "Grandaddy of them all"? Not since the 1925 Rose Bowl - the 11th - have the Irish played in that august event. So bring on whomever and where ever, but I would love to play in the Rose Bowl...

As I wrote in another thread I started yesterday ("ACC should Bubble Clemson and ND"), with the virus so out of control the best bet for the ACC was to end the season for ND and Clemson after Saturday and only continue to the 12th if either team got upset.

Scheduled today are Kyren Williams, Ad Ogundeji, Marist Liufau and possibly a fourth.

Notre Dame just announced its Dec. 2 game against Western Michigan is off because WMU has some availability issues.

I hope to post the Gold Standard tomorrow morning before I fly out of Virginia, but it may be in the afternoon if I simply run out of time. I'm simply exhausted from so much travel these past few days, but here are some Lucky Charms for your Monday night...

*** Greenwood Village (Colo.) Cherry Creek's George Fitzpatrick isn't someone we talk about a whole lot when discussing the Irish's top offensive line targets in the 2022 class. Jeff Quinn has done a nice job in this recruitment though and has really valued Fitzpatrick. They've kept up weekly during the season, but my gut tells me that this one doesn't end up coming Notre Dame's way -- partly because there are other guys I feel like who could pop sooner and the board could fill up. He also hasn't visited campus and I don't see him doing that any time soon either. Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon are some of his top offers. He could end up Notre Dame but I don't see it right now.

*** Some recent "top group" news among 2022 recruits... Grosse Pointe (Mich.) South five-star cornerback Will Johnson named a top list of Arizona State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC. Notre Dame offered earlier this year but were never able to make much traction ... Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive tackle Aliou Bah picked up a Notre Dame offer in September but left the Irish out of his top group. Florida State, Florida, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Penn State and Texas A&M made the cut ... Shelby (N.C.) High outside linebacker Malaki Hamrick announced a top group of Appalachian State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State and North Carolina. I don't know a whole lot about Hamrick's recruitment other than his top five and that Notre Dame is looking at him as a vyper.

*** Ohio State recruiting is nuts in the 2022 class. They currently have the No. 2 class in 2021 and already have two five-star commits in 2022 and six more four-star recruits locked in. Their most recent commitment came from four-star receiver Caleb Burton from Del Valle (Texas) High. Notre Dame offered him earlier this year. If Ohio State keeps on this kind of recruiting run, they're going to continue to dominate when you combine it with the excellent coaching they have on staff.

*** Our Wisconsin rivals website posted an update on 2022 defensive line target Isaac Hamm over the weekend, which you can read here. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin are his top four schools, but this is really a battle between the Badgers and Fighting Irish. Ohio State hasn't even offered yet. Here's what he said about Notre Dame:

“I would say they’re second up to Wisconsin with having a relationship with coaching, first and foremost," Hamm said. "I talked to those dudes all the time. They're always on me about my grades. They're always on me about my weight room numbers, making sure I'm always growing as a student and an athlete.

"I would just say I built a great relationship with them. You can see right now, they're playing North Carolina right now [on Friday] -- who knows how this game will go -- but they’re 8-0 right now. There's nothing not to like over there, and they have the perfect academic and athletic balance. They take the grades very seriously."

With football not being played in some states this fall, have you heard of many prospects putting together videos of workouts and sending them to college coaches?

Seems like it would be pretty common without senior film to go on, especially for "fringe" prospects trying to earn offers, but I haven't read about any of that being done.
